KRins
While I absolutely love the wild, tactical violence that is FL... it is time for me to start considering moving on. I doubt anyone will care that I'm probably peacing out on the permanent in the very near future, but I'm gonna talk about it anyway. I took the plunge and signed an 18X(special forces canidate) contract with the US Army. I realize that the military is a very hit or miss subject with almost everyone, but I just wanted to say thanks for making/maintaining/being a part of a great game. I really enjoyed all my interactions, even though most of them were someone shoving a boot down my throat. If you ever find yourself bashing old G.W. Bush, pull back on it a little. You got a friend on that side now.
Mister E
Best of luck to you man. I admire anyone willing to join the army, at the end of the day it takes guts and someone has to do it.

jb5679
I concur that its strange how many military is part of our ranks, I'm hoping anyone that gets sent to Iraq or what not will do... c 'dispel magic' enemy bash bash bash Enemy is dead! corpsestomp
Good luck. I'm still working on trying to get in, but with a criminal record it makes it tough. Also, what Chayesh said.
Dobson
I hate to be a downer, but 18X is not special forces candidate, it is infantry because you aren't going to qualify. 1 out of maybe a 1000 who sign on for that even make it to the first stage of training (which is classroom) and then they flunk out. Grosek_
I'll have to ask some of the guys I work with about that one. I know two guys who signed up in what sounds like that program. They go straight into special forces training after their basic training I believe. Normally its a little different. Your normal special forces soldier starts out in a different MOS, they go to the first stage of SF training, which is called selection. Its mostly a land nav thing, lots of physical activity, most people are weeded out then. Which I'm guessing is the portion of the course that dobson is talking about. Anyway, good luck with it man. SF is probably the best place to be in the Army. I've been with an SF group for about 4 years now, and I can't imagine being anyplace else in the army. Yeah, we deploy a lot, coming up on my 4th in under a month now. But the deployments really aren't that bad, especially if you're a team guy(not just support). Chromatic
Good luck. I'm still working on trying to get in, but with a criminal record it makes it tough. Also, what Chayesh said. They're slowly loosening restrictions. Sooner or later you'll get in.
corpsestomp
They're slowly loosening restrictions. Sooner or later you'll get in. That's what I hear. That and I'm pretty sure I can get in through the National Guard. Go Reservist for 6 months then transfer to active.
Chromatic
It'll be a little longer than six months, trust me. Unless of course you wanna be an 88m. I had paperwork to go active sent up the chain and the only way they said I could go active is to drive trucks in Iraq.

Khran
Yes, there is. It's just an unspoken Q-class that you are almost never likely to get. They are the most powerful combo in existance and are damned near unkillable. They can slip up on you in an instant and full loot you before you even realize you died. They are the most powerful beings to have ever walked the planet. Their guild teaches skills and tactics that are so brutal, so stealth....that we normal folk will never be able to compare. They have their own channels to speak on and even their own language. They can survive in any terrain, have absolutely no vuln, and are perm-invis, perm-camouflage They're out there Raargant, more powerful than any God. More powerful than any overpowered dreadlord conclave leader. Believe it, or not.... You must be a human at your pinnacle. Please scribe a scroll to Immortal. KRins
amen...but I don't think they have dispel magic. I think they might just spam everyone's favorite spell. "BOOM HEADSHOT!" 93 is 6 from perfect. You must have missed one. 93 would still basically get you anything you wanted, provided you can get in. ASVAB - Armsed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery This is a General knowledge test that is given to all Military Hopeful candidates. This gives a general idea of what you can, and can not do in the army based on general skills. Such skills would be comprehension, tactics, math, science, logic and 3-D Analysis. The scoring goes from a 10-99 but is not the only Battery of testing. Certain MOS are ASVAB score restricted upon enlisting. However, your ASVAB score does not get you a position, and if you have NOT graduated from Basic Training and are on your way to AIT with a signed contract with your given MOS, you are at the mercy of the the Military. Dude, trust me, it is a sucker line I am TELLING YOU. However, if you don't want to believe me (or you don't care) go right on ahead but I went down that road. Just because the recruiter told you that you would get in doesn't mean JACK. They are paid to lie, paid to hush away those fears you have. I know, I worked for one. Also, the Military is constantly getting sued for breach of contract because people don't read the fine print. It states, if you read it, that your position is interchangable WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE ENLISTED OFFICER. So unless you are going in OCS, don't plan on that being your life. Chromatic
ummm...I guess its a good thing I like to shoot stuff then... It seems like everytime this gets mentioned to anyone they come up with like a half billion reasons why I'm stupid. Six years suddently seems like a damn long time sometimes. You're not stupid. I was disqualified from any combat arms MOS due to high frequency hearing loss in both ears. So what'd I do? I became a 92a, supply. And every infantry unit has to have supplies, right? But anyways, I have a couple of friends that went in on the 18X contract, and halfway through basic they were told they were being changed to 11Bs, and they weren't gonna get the opportunity to even go for SF. So my suggestion would be to make sure you can get at least a 300 on your PT test at the 17-21 age bracket. So make sure you can run 2 miles in LESS than 13:00, do more than 72 pushups in 2:00, and more than 78 situps in 2:00 just to help your chances. If you are below maximum in any of the categories, it's almost a guarantee that you'll be switched into 11B or 11C.
