Weapon Expertise / Mastery

Because an ogre or giant warrior wielding a no disarm staff will pwn most newbies and junior players. Staffs are the most defensive weapon to use' date=' plus that pugil skill warriors get deals out massive damage.[/quote']

Exactly. An ogre warrior with staff expert/mastery can in mithril toss 4-5 massacres/mangles a round with a decent staff. Not even the best ones in the game, just a decent one.

I suggest think on which warrior LORE you wish first.

Then split your expertises/mastery so you get that lore and have higher than 100 % prof on both a twohanded weapon and something you can dual wield.

While staff is the ideal choice against tough mobs a polearm will be better against classes that know staff but not polearm and dual wielding will be better against anything that doesn't do overmuch melee damage.

So is flail mastery. Serious invoker killer, both the weapon and the lore.

Very true. If you love fire warriors but can't handle those pesky invokers, go this route, and with a bit of experimenting and the right flails you'll pound them silly. It'll still hurt like hell, but it's the way to kill them.

They all sound like a lot of fun, especially the flail lore ( does it go off often ) I know that doublesheath has huge benefits as well and would be hard to not get.

Until I figure out how to get some better than average equipment, I think I am going to replace Dey as the worst Pker :) regardless of what I chose, so your right, most fun it is!

Woot!

For a Warrior, best way to get used to EQ if you haven't had an ID class before hand to find out about it, just try and get yourself involved in as many EQ runs as possible. If people are unwilling to let you join (as sometimes people like the bare minimum so they don't have to split the loot as many ways), offer to go with them anyway just to help (if your RP permits) and that way you can at least find out where EQ is and how hard it is to gain - not many people will turn down a helping hand, and they might give you a few things anyway. And remember your Brambus quest too....

We can't talk about specifics of lores unfortunately, but if you like the idea of flail lore, you won't be disappointed if you master it.

Just pick what sounds appealing to you. All have their own benefits that will come into their own in different situations against different classes. Shield bash in particular sounds very interesting IMO.

I really liked the flail lore. Warrior lores are dangerous, though, because the temptation is always there to use your lore. And if you do that, you lose out on the huge advantage a warrior has in being able to learn all weapon types.

I know that when I had a character with mantis maul, I used a flail more often than a sane person should have. I couldn't help it--the yell when I initiated combat with it made me feel all warm inside.

I've tried all of them over the years, and feign is the only one I've considered a poor choice. Maybe the real advantage was that there are quite a few decent swords and daggers out there, or maybe I was just missing something.

Wow, someone actually thinks that because I couldn't see a good use for a skill that it must suck :D

There might be more to that skill than I ever figured out. I actually didn't spend all that much time trying to figure it out. The biggest drawback I saw with it was that so many classes know how to use swords (or daggers, if it still applies to both weapons). And it's already been stated that using a weapon your opponent can't learn is a tremendous edge for warriors. So in most fights I didn't even bother using a sword.

My impression of warrior lore is that it was added to give warriors a bit of flavor; it wasn't meant to be a make or break skill for a character. And I've found that to be true. I had fun with my sword warrior, and he was fairly successful, I think.
