Fiere
BARDS!!! I wasn't sure whether to put this in the general section or newbie, so I decided I'd play it safe and put it here. Since there's no essay on bards, what are/would be your battle tactics with them? It would help if you've actually played one and pked with it, but I suppose that's not really necessary. Looking at the list, it seems like they've got an incredible variety to them, and could be quite powerful, but you'd have to invent up all kinds of dirty tricks. For instance, they are the only class besides DK's that have both wands AND three defenses, not to mention scrolls. As we all also well know, they've got some glaring weaknesses. How to get around those? I suppose I've said enough.
corpsestomp
They have massive melee potential with dual wield, fired weapons and HUGE throw damage. You get identify, id some cards when as you master edge craft and throw, you'll like what you see. They get hide, sneak and invis, use them to get the drop on people. Also, since they do get wands and scrolls(don't they get staves too?) , besides all the buffs you can get from songs, I'd say you can be quite a powerhouse if you know how to prepare properly. Mostly, just never immediately toss away skills/spells/songs because you think they might be worthless. If this is your first bard since the revamp, I'd suggest trying everything out. Fiere
Not to mention steal. Even without blackjack, it can be a hefty advantage if you get the drop on them, by allowing you to steal all their buffs.
English lad
HBwillie needs to post an essay already, he promised us one!

Fiere
That's what I figured from even just mob observations. Blackjack works like a charm on things that have five or six ranks on you. Knockout...doesn't.
BobcatFan
yes. Knockout is a no go.

Dobson
Advantages: Massive AC if you know how to get it, scrolls and songs allow you to double up on some -ac. Massive Melee power: Dual wield, Throw, Four Seasons, Fired Weapons, Taunt, Dirt Kick, Disarm, Lullaby, Brawl Defensive: Cure Serious, invis, hide, dodge, lullaby, flight of phoenix Strategy is a lot more in depth and you are welcome to PM me for that info. Weakness: BASH, that's pretty much it. If you get bashed wave bye bye unless you are a giant who is already enlarged.

Goes along with an RP I had a while back.
EtsoShex
While we're at it...is taunt at all useful in a battle? In my experiences, taunt works wonders. It makes it much easier to hit, and you hit harder.
Fiere
So it must be more than just the -2 to damage roll or whatever the crap it is.
EtsoShex
Most definitely. After dirt, it was the first thing I did in battle.
Fiere
Hrmm...is brawl noticeable, (for example, more total attacks) or does it just affect accuracy?

So...outdamage the basher. Simple as that. Or, enlarge yourself since you can't be a giant bard.
