Class Suggestions

Talcian

I was just wondering if anyone had a class suggestion on people (like me) that have a high latency. Its not uncommon for me to have to enter a command one round early before the game is able to recognize it. Usually I go for melee types because most inputs are two rounds lag. So.... warriors, thieves, ninjas, paladins... possibly berserkers but I doubt it. Timing that haymaker seems vital.

Shaman maybe? Hit 'em with a bunch of mals' date=' flee, wait for them to die.[/quote']

No. Shamans need to be able to stay on the edge of their seat dropping one mal at a time, knowing exactly when to run/heal/return.

Honestly, I feel Talcian's pain... playing through lag sucks, and it negatively affects every class.

Best bet are healer.

A halfling healer, with 1 prac per spell/skill, following Mistic Knolage is the best.

With decent AC dressing you can pull -500 AC, and have a powerout while soloing Desolation and still live.

If you lag, you can always live.

Of course PK is dead. Such a lag means you can only land kills with laging classes, or Invockers/Ninjas/Thieves.

Forget the Paladin, you need to run and heal at same time.

Ogre Devastation berserker, looks good. Suicidal type.

A monk can probably do well, if you stack airtrash, trip.

Human necromancer adventurer might be ok.

Heh, I agree with Beer. Trying to hold out though as I will hopefully be moving in the next couple of months- then I'll get the broadband. And thanks for the tips. I've really been wanting to roll a necro but was wondering about the whole lag issue... maybe it wouldn't be too bad, though the flee return thing makes me wonder.

I don't think I'd be able to play if I was always getting lag, but if you have to play, then there are only two classes I would personally seriously consider playing FL with when lagged - Thief and Ninja. And for Ninja, I would exclusively study/assassinate and for Thief, just lay traps, blackjack, steal/pry, repeat. Trying to PK is hard enough as it is without having hardcore lag. The other classes involve going into combat with sombody, which means bad things unless you plan on preying on naked newbie pre-pinns. :D

If it was me, I'd probably roll a monk (something I've always wanted to play but don't think I have the patience to train) and then just work on training, and try to avoid getting involved in PK. Then after the move, with broadband, I'd have the basis of a character there.

As Pali said, lag affects EVERY class negatively. Though it affects some worse than others.

Go battlemage. Very low equipment dependence and can still kick butt when lagged, since most of their PK is automatic.

Just stay away from Invoker. Oh dear god, stay away from Invoker. A slow Invoker = dead invoker.
