PWIPE - Two weeks notice

Well, after some deliberation, the staff has decided that it will be in the best interest of the MUD if everyone starts clean. We have come to this decision based on several reasons:

1. New things being implemented

2. General decline of quality in the playerbase

3. General decline of RP quality in charactiers

4. Increase in cheating

We attempted to boost this decline by creating a large scale RP plot - sadly, a lot of the characters that were to be committed just decided they did not feel like playing anymore. Our efforts were shunned by a vast majority. As such, we have decided that we have no other option but to do a PWIPE and start with a completely clean slate.

We will give you this two week period so that you may roleplay your characters out as you wish.

EDIT: :D APRIL FOOLS :D

The Staff did not come to this conclusion lightly. PWipes are a very serious decision, given much time and thought, and are weighed with everyone's (mortal and immortal) best intrests in mind. Although we understand the attachment one gains to the time and effort put into characters, we cannot allow that to sway us from managing this game to our best ability. In the intrest of 'balance' and 'fair play', several major changes are being implemented. With these changes, a PWipe is the best way to 'even out' the playing field. It is our general feeling, that this can only strengthen the game we all know and love.

Unfortunately folks, as much as I'd like to tell you all this is an April fool's joke, it's not. Like Malchaeius said, the Imm staff worked hard to bring an RP plot that had to be cut short thanks to players upping and leaving midway through - that in itself is not a big problem, but when you also have some of the integral players (some of whom hold a fair amount of prestige within the playerbase) cheating a fair amount, it sort of takes the wind out of your motivational sails, so to speak.

So with changes on the horizon, what better time than to start afresh?

Ah how about not now? :D

Um not sounding hostile or anything but if this is something that affects the whole community of FL, I personally would like to know whats happening (all the changes) and who hell was cheating.

Stickied.

To any in doubt, wait until tomorrow and confirmation will be given then. You need to realise that the decision was made prior to today, however the forums have been down due to exceeding a monthly bandwidth issue (as I'm sure you have seen), and with today being the beginning of a new month, the forums are back up, which is why we didn't bring this to your attention earlier.

While not everyone reads the forums, a vast majority do. Thus, it is the prime venue to make this announcement..

On the subject of it being April 1st, it merely coincidental. It just happens tobe the first available time to give everyone a two weeks notice due to bandwidth issues. Without those issues, you would have been notified three days earlier. The tIming of the announcement, whether you want to believe it or not, is happenstance.

You guys are trying to hard if this is a joke. Also, I hope you know that if it IS a joke a lot of people will get discouraged and really upset.

If it's not a joke, what is a Pwipe going to solve? Everyone will have to roll up again, retrain, get frustrated and loose what they enjoy in the game, the rewards from hard earned characters.

If you are going to do a pwipe just do it, don't make those people loose everything and have two weeks to know it is coming, this isn't an execution sentence, some of them did nothing wrong.

How are you gonna blame the playerbase for you guys picking the two least active characters in the pool to participate? I'm sure that killed a lot of people's desire to RP right there, they work hard, rp and pk. Then turn around to see someone who logs every other month get to go have fun then just disappear.

Haha. You guys. Stop being silly ;)

Though in all seriousness... Before I realized it was April 1st, I thought about it. A Pwipe wouldn't be a bad idea right about now. I feel like the MUD is kinda stale at the moment.

But i'd be one of the very few that think that and everyone else would cry... So no.
