Well, after speaking with some people and speaking on a few select D&D forums (I started with a couple small, lesser known places) I have found interest to be better than average.

Most people have little time to get together and play and even the ones that play twice a week want more. I've also found that DMs JUST WANT A PLACE TO PLAY on the vast majority. I remember that feeling, being stuck as DM all the time...FL was so much more precious to me.:D

Anyways, we should see something of about a 30-50 newb influx. No more. I'd like to see how the mud handles this size of an influx first. I think we'll need more ranking areas before we progress any farther. I'd like to see the days when there were 40-some people logged in and less than a quarter of them were at 50. But I also remember what a b*tch it was when Emerald Forest had three groups in it. Even if one was doing farmers and brownies, another dryads and nymphs, and the third doing lady rangers and rangers....experience was scarce to come by.

That's the ONLY problem I can foresee. That and some of the names that have been coming around....yeah, I'm sure some of the D&D forum players have been coming in.

But anyways, we supply some players, build some more ranking areas, and then bring in MORE players. This is where the building process has to start. Increase the playerbase, increase the mud, finish a run for maximum playerbase to mud size ratio. Then we should see some changes.

There are already alternatives to Emerald: lower rank: landfill, medium rank: labyrinth.

For neutrals the "goody" places work as well: Elium, Tombs, Centaurs.

If we really get a lot of new players I'm sure we'll handle it, it's also up to the more experienced ones to let them now when they step wrong (ooc esp.).

In addition to this, I'd like to see the Academy chat become OOC, in that you could explain things like dirt 2.mob, or other things that are infinitely more difficult to explain in an IG fashion. It would not be a place to just chit-chat, but it would be helpful to newer players to have these things explained.

I would love to see a whole bunch more people, even if they are newbs.

We have the building skill and capacity to handle such an influx, and beleive me, it would be welcome. I've always thought that D&D players are a natural fit with FL, as their understanding our our mechanics is quite similar.

I'm glad to see players taking this initiative, and I encourage you to all keep doing so.

The academy clan chat IS ooc. Listening to noobs ask how come he can't attack Corinkorth (for example, no offense) is just as entertaining as pitiful. But it is pretty amazing that most of these noobs actually stick with fl for awhile at least.

The academy clan chat is definitely IC. If you go ooc there expect to get some Imm attention eventually.

The only ooc channel right now is newbie chat.

If someone doesn't have access to newbie channel any more and needs to be talked to ooc, send a note to Immortal and we will handle it.

The Academy chat should always be IC. The Academy is about teaching about this mud and this mud is RP enforced. The Academy chat teaches newbies to think about what they're saying and how to say it in FL. It's just another teaching tool. Every aspect of the Academy is a teaching tool.

I LOVE THE ACADEMY! :D

Glad to hear it! I was waiting to hear something like that. I just posted on Wizards of the Coasts official D&D forums. Hope you're ready for an influx. :D

Okay...within about fifteen minutes, my post is halfway down the page in D&D general...posts move fast there....hopefully someone sees it.

Anyways, I can't do this by myself folks. We need to hit up more D&D forums and I have to go back to work tomorrow which means I won't have computer access and I plan on spending my next two days off next week with my fiance.

So, here's what I need you to do.

The Reverend needs anyone who wants to find TWO forums that are based on D&D. Read the rules and regulations. The Reverend wants you to be a good representative of FL. If they don't want advertisement (Wizards of the Coast didn't want business or commercial advertisment, which I am not...do contribute in the DM section), don't post there.

*cracks his whip* Move it! :D

What do you say when you post on their forums?

If you play D&D, it should be natural. Draw on the similarities between FL and D&D, the roleplay, the pk, the expansive class system, our races, etc....

Just try not to ramble too much like I can be prone to doing and keep it simple. Not too long. People have a small attention span...could be why I don't read too many of Celerity's posts. :P j/k, we love you Celerity!:D
