Arena

When I am fighting in the arena, all of my spells keep getting taken down. I'm assuming this is normal, but isn't it a bit excessive? Those things in the high levels are nasty enough without every round automatic dispels.

I have always thought this was INSANE. Especially if your trying to get items as a BLM or BMG.

You should be given your disarmed items back as well without having to go in there and look for them during a 2nd round.

They fixed that. Anything on the ground will end up at the cardinal after the fight. Which is great. Now, to fix the ranger pets in the arena bug. That one sucks.

Psh. Try killing anything in the arena with a necromancer.

My battlemage has no problems with dispel. You must be new to the class.

I thought it was a divine mandate that NO pets are allowed in the arena EVER or you will be slain and eaten..

I find myself getting dispelled quite often. I keep around -50 mental, with resist and still get dropped like panties on prom night.

Its not meant to be easy people

-50 mental with resist I should not get dispelled first shot in my opinion.

I think that is pure speculation.

The mag. resistant races I've played and were mediocre dressed (much less than -50 sv mental) never had problems with being dispelled. Yes there was the casual dispel here and there, but one should learn to deal with it, otherwise he doesn't deserve the price.

What bothers me most with that mob though, is when it dispels and bashes in the same round and in that order.

I know when something is supposed to be hard, but creating perfect "fcuk you" scenarios should not be the case.

And hurricane. Don't forget the damned hurricanes.

Don't fly and you wont have to deal with hurricane.

And thank the gods you arent undead, turn undead (which dispels you first).

Never had any problems with half a set of EQ and mediocore saves as Philantees. Go in there with no saves at all, and it proved very much harder.

Funny thing is, the less buffs you go in there with, the better you tend to do

the problem I was having, was the fact that on top of a full dispel, you usually get blinded, tripped, bashed, or other annoying things.

and how is it speculation that -50 mental and resist should be enough to resist I dunno, 1 dispel?

Don't go in with sanctuary -- you'll get dispelled fast and often. Don't go in with flight -- you'll eat a hurricane and usually a dispel.

Go in with every other buff, however. As Valkynsra I had problems at first, but learned to deal with it. Going in without sanctuary sometimes was a problem (considering turn undead always did === regardless of the saves I had) but I was usually able to out damage the mobs.

Never had a problem with archer rangers, (without pets) blademasters, battlemages (I've had 5 or so in the past few years), paladins or any warriors. Necromancers, thieves, ninjas, and others I've never been able to kill the mob with. I'm inclined to believe (but don't like believing it) that I'm far better with hybrids/casters.

I agree. The Wight, for example, is retarded strong. A mob that can do multiple skills in one rough is ridiculous. IE: disarm AND trip in a single round. A bit over the top.

heh. I like the hurricane/trip/full dispel/ blind

Think about the prize you get for beating the Wight. The mob should be pretty damn strong.

Shoot, the wight is easy.

The black dragon is the one that stomps me 19/20 times.

I could be wrong but I don't think the Wight's dispel is an actual dispel spell, I know it doesn't cast it.

And certain combos can take down the wight stupidly easy and others (like necromancer) almost impossible.
