Evangelion
If you don't want to know anything about it, don't read past this point. *WARNING* - SPOILERS TO FOLLOW (highlight to read) I give it a 5/10. However, it's one of those movies, in my opinion, where you either love it (10), hate it (1), or are square in the middle (5). I was the last option. Reason 1: Too many simultaneously developing storylines. There was no reason to include Flint Marko/Sandman, other than to have another villain. His part was very minimal, and very special-effect based. It was completely irrelevant, and on top of everything else, changed the story line of the first movie TWICE. Reason 2: Cliche last-fight. It's two villains versus Spiderman. So what does he do? Call upon the now-wounded New Goblin/Harry Osborne to help him save Mary Jane. Harry initially refuses, until the extremely talkative butler convinces him to go help (Alfred, anyone?). Then Harry makes good on a promise from earlier in the movie, and gives up his life to save Peter/Spiderman from Venom. Reason 3: Lead-in for a sequel. There are bound to be more villains afoot, and the resolution between Peter and Mary Jane is minimal at best. The movie, despite the hopes of many viewers, has one of those cliffhanger endings that make you groan in the realization that the box office just wants more money. However, the movie did have some cool aspects. Despite the 2v2 between Goblin/Spidey and Sandman/Venom being cliche, the fight itself was cool, with some well choreographed stunts. There were some startling parts in the movie that actually made me jump, which seldom happens anymore. And finally, watching ol' Peter Parker trying to act cool with his stylin' clothes and emo haircut was mildly amusing. So all in all, I thought the good balanced out the bad, and it was worth the $Arm and Leg that it costs to go to the movies these days. I would recommend it, and will likely buy it when it comes out, but I won't be paying a second visit to the theater for it.
Bregalad
Why!!! I was worried they were going to do something to muddle it up and they did. Not as bad maybe as they could have, i.e. Kill Peter Parker.... None the less it was still a fundamental story muck up. I mean technically they could still correct the horrible mistake....Will they? Well, looks like 2009/2010 will hold the answer. The movie as a whole, I agree 5/10. I was loving it up till the mistake. Then I just sat in my seat horrified at what I had just witnessed. I will not as of yet say what it is exactly that made me so disheartened....Lets just say that it had to do with "Venom".

Chayesh
I could have told you they messed with the story without even having to go see it. Any half-azzed comic book collector could have told you that. Hello...Marvel Secret Wars anyone?

elfdude
they need to make a movie just about venom, I'd see that. maybe add in carnage and do the whole seperation anxiety thing
EyeSeeU
first of all the black suit spider man found on another planet, and since the movie doesnt even bother going there why bother seeing it, if they messed up that part then I can also sense they messed up/with brock/venom... Movies piss me off.
Chayesh
Spiderman gained the suit as a reward for his side "winning" the Marvel Secret Wars. For those unaware, the Marvel Secret Wars were when the Beyonder grabbed heroes and villains from all over Earth and transported them to a planet he threw together called Battleworld. It was literally a who's who of the Marvel Universe at the time. Later, he found out what the suit was really all about and only was able to remove it with help from Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. The suit made a reappearance in Web of Spiderman #1. Spiderman then ditched the red and blue suit for "good" (at least at the time) after fighting Magma in Web of Spiderman #46 I believe but then it was just a plain old suit like the red and blue except it was black and silver. I realize that the actual story often gets re-written for movies (like the huge timeline errors and plot changes with the X-Men films) but it's still cool to see these heroes brought to life on the big screen. Malchaeius
I love how nerds always feel like movie directors owe them complete adherence to the comic books/tv show. I enjoyed the movie. Each Spiderman movie outdoes the one before it. I just hope (for purely aesthetic reasons) that Tobey McGwire and Kirsten Dunst decide to return for another. The Lizard anyone? Introduction of the Kingpin? Return of Venom? All good. Bruce Campbell's cameo was pure gold.
Chayesh
Don't get me wrong...I've enjoyed each of the Spiderman movies, as well as others based on comic books. I was just pointing out that anyone who thinks they're going to stay true to the story is just spitting in the wind. Personally, I'd like to see cameos of other heroes in some of the movies the way another hero would make an appearance in each hero's story. After, there was only 200 superheroes in the Manhattan area. You'd think they'd bump into each other from time to time logically. Additionally, I'm hoping they get the Avengers franchise up and running at some point. I'm thinking Vin Diesel for Captain America.

a-guitarist
I hate Vin Diesel. Probably because of his last name. Yeah.... yeah, that's why. Although I never read any Captain America, I always kinda thought a young Bruce Campbell would do wonders as Iron Man, though. Just something about him. a-g
