In the help files it says that the Dwarves are acomplished Blacksmiths, and that all dwarves know a bit of this skill.
But they have no racial skill about this.
So I got this idea for a Dwarven bonus.
Idea 1:
Give Dwarves Enchant Armor and Enchant Weapon as racial skill. Limit it's use to once every 24 hours.
Idea 2:
Give Dwarves a special skill that alows them to add some bonus to armour and weapons made of mithril.
Like +1 Hit/Dam and +1 Saving vs spell. (or perhaps allow them to chose one of the three)
A magical or huming flag would prevent improvement on the same item.
Starstones could be used to further balance this.
Dwarves... don't need anything more.
Maybe give them Forge.
Help Forge
Syntax Forge
Thousands of years studying the strengths and frailties of various metals have culminated in the dwarves unique ability to craft their own personal weapon. A dwarf works tirelessly at his forge until he finally crafts the single weapon he feels will aid him in all battles.
The dwarf forges a dwarven weapon, example dwarven warhammer, the weapon has no added hit or dam, and average damage equal to half the dwarfs level -2. Allowable effects. curse, flaming, shocking, keen, poisoned, light, heavy, frozen. Limited to only having One crafted weapon. Crafting this weapon should have a great penalty such as requesting an Item of Equal or greater level than the dwarf. Finally the Item should not be able to be wielded by anyone but the crafter.
Cursed dwarven sword - no drop
flaming dwarven warhammer - smokes
shocking dwarven flail - stuns
Keen dwarven dagger - digs into skin
poisoned dwarven spear - poisons
light dwarven whip - enhances parry
heavy dwarven glaive - enhances two-handed
frozen dwarven staff - chill touches
^just examples, not limitations, bah just rambling.

****ing beautiful man! I say raise the average dam a bit. Remove that negative. Make it half their level +2. It's a freakin' dwarven made weapon! And maybe allow a shield if they don't want a weapon, but they can have one in existence at any one time.
You know, you should give Mya's paladins flail and kick... now THAT is badass.
See I really like the idea, but the race Dwarf needs nothing as is lol. Damn
well, seems to me most of the other races have something. The weapon at 50 will never be over avg 27 damage, which is on the ****ty end of good weapons imo. Elves/drow have autosneak, Avians have autofly, werebeasts transform, if anything, I'd like to see more races with racial perks
Edit: Can balance it by giving duergar the same thing
Dwarf DO have something. They get Mag resist. Best perk in the game besides fg bonus with fire weapons
lol nub... But not only do they get mag resist they get a huge hp base from stunning Str and Con
They also regain quite nicely and have not-so-easy to exploit vuln.
Their stats are the best in the game - a total of 103. In comparison ogres get 100, elves get 102, humans get 101, duergars get 100, ferals get 102, sliths get 97 and so on.
And you want to give that race more...

You, sir, have lost all credibility for denying anything using the argument of lacking RP. I should take you to the RP shed. This doesn't really do ANYTHING great. How hard is it to get a decent weapon or shield? It's not. This just adds some RP spice.
IMO it opens up GREAT RP possibilities. But Not only for dwarves. Give them forge. But let them forge weapons for other people too. I can't name the times I've went 'Man I wish I could find that would be decent for my level, but instead all I know of is this. So here I am, wearing something that isn't in my description, doo da doo.'
Yes they get Magic Resist, yes they have awesome stats, yes they are a great race overall. But make it so they aren't owner only IMO. Dwarves have a LOT of pride, you come along and kill them and take their personally forged weapon, they're gonna get it back. Or maybe they sold you a weapon they personally forged, spending hours perfecting it for a friend, and that friend uses it in a way they don't approve of. Now you got an angry dwarf in your face.
I'm rambling, and I can see the balance perspective on this 100%. I know you guys don't want to upset the apple cart. So maybe this compromise would work well? Possibly code in they can make ONE owner only weapon in their career as a blacksmith, like their pen-ultimate creation of smithing. And that would be an owner only weapon.
Hah. I fixed it
Let dwarves be saders you ****ers

would be more reasonable imho to make it have a huge cooldown of like 600 hours, so you cant make one often but you aren't bound to one per lifetime.
Actually after remembering F0xx's arthritic Dwarf Blademasters I think this may be over the top.
Forge yes. But perhaps only weapons, and force them to chose either +1 Hitroll, +1 Damroll, or -1 Svs-Spell.
To compensate, give the weapon a kick *** name:
Dwarven Forged (actual name) blade.
No cool down, just Starstone-slab for cost.
Perhaps even armors, but only Bless flag. Which I think affects nothing of interest in the game. And of course, the KICK *** name.

what would be the point in that? if i wanted a useless weapon i'd pick up one of your clerics and wield it
We could even give it a cool title.
