Guest MarKo.mk
Requires way more running than it did 3 years ago. Not that I had much\any experience then with all of 2 pinnacles. I'm at 60 hours and already a bit worn out... *sigh* Might have to start rolling again by next week, lol.
Celerity
Yeah, things are definitely harder these days. Our playerbase has been filtered out to the better pkers over time. While this does mean more of challenge for the upper skill levels, I worry about how new players can ever stay long enough to improve...being killed over and over is very depressing for any new player. I'd say you probably need at least a year of active playing (what a learning curve!) to become decently competitive if you didn't come from AR or something. That learning curve is always increasing as the game becomes more complex and the average skill level rises.
goldbond
on the flip side, i've seen the remarkable occurance of 50's blatantly passing over the chance to easily PK another even while there wasnt much else to do around the lands. i couldnt say that for all of 2.0 where everyone was busy bashing each other's brains out. also thankfully, people speak out in cases of gratuitous multiPK of very, very, very obviously newbies who somehow made it to 50. like about a year ago some dwarf berserker (or warrior, I forgot now) somehow made it to 50 while barely knowing anything at all about the MUD whatsoever. so some pinns decided to make him kneel in rheydin central and killed him over and over. so that same day someone posted here about how disgusting behavior it was ( and i agreed completely) and the imm's dealt with that immediately. Guest MarKo.mk
I'm fine with the dying bit... maybe should have chosen something more survivable, lol. I've been off and on since the Old Man days, my problem was always my low attention span and inability to stick with one character. Made a neutral royal during Shaw and Athelea's days, made it to Elder, almost got leader, but never learned actually joined a PK cabal... I know the layout pretty well, save all the top tier zones... Ah well, I'll condeath, learn alittle something, and come back with a cleric or maybe an invoker.
Guest MarKo.mk
I have managed to get some kills this time, at least.
elfdude
Yea, the learning curve is pretty hardcore these days I'd have to say. For this codebase I'd have to say that we have the most competitive pk on the internet. edit: I mean rom
Tantangel
Surviving at 50 can be easy, it's surviving in the 50's PK range and not being 50 yourself that can sometimes be the problem. Depends on the class you choose too. I've always found it easier to survive as a mage class than a melee class just because they have everything readily available to you. They can make food, they can make water, and they can even output a lot of damage. For the most part it kind of makes Melees obsolete to me because a melee usually depends heavily on the armor they wear where as a mage can PK in nothing but a weapon (and sometimes even a shield). If you're playing a melee then most likely if you don't know where or how to equip and how to survive in general a mage should be the next character you play. Unlike Celerity, I can't play a warrior very well.
Hegemon
Make friends. Get the items. Betray them when you become a bigshot. That's how it goes.
Chromatic
Don't make a watcher or syndicate. Make a herald or something. I had to learn playing watchers, and getting your *** stomped to condeath over four characters teaches you nothing, not a damned thing, and i don't care what anyone says. I made another char and got to where I am on this char by playing aggressive but keeping allies, which is pretty important for learning, allies will spar to the stun with you for the fun of it. Tantangel
Yes Hegemon. For those of you who play evils. Still enjoy those evil Drow Clerics, eh?
