BigMac
I know it was released several years ago, and I know a lot has changed since then. I used to have a copy of it, but I was wondering if it was still available for download. There are some things I've forgotten that I would love to read over again. Dead Voodoo Doll
You're free to search on Google but this is not the best place to ask.
WagesofSin
Why was it brought down to begin with? Viri wanted it released to the public so I don't understand why it was taken down.
Celerity
because viri doesn't call the shots these days
BigMac
Hm. It may've had something to do with GNU licensing. This is in no way an attack on the developers/coders of this MUD. To my understanding, by law the coders/developers of an application that was created by modification to another GNU-licensed application are required to release the source code. This is why limewire pro is free (only) if you compile it yourself. Since limewire was made using the framework of open source software, they're required by law to release the source code of their software.
savnt
mudmagic has it in their archives. I would post a link here, but to tell you the truth, it isn't worth the time arguing why it shouldn't be removed. the code is no longer the same, alot has changed. there is no reason why you would want it anymore. goldbond
I can think of one, if you're good at looking at code and interpretting, you can glean information on the real affects of things like saves, hit/dam, racial characteristics, etc. and while some of that may be outdated, some of it is probably not. BigMac
There are a lot of things that have stayed the same. I've got a pretty good idea of what's changed, and what's now useless information. I found the code and am in the process of going through it right now. Thanks! BigMac
I don't NEED it to get an upper hand. I don't NEED it for anything but to satisfy my own curiosity and to supplement my forgetful mind. If you can read the code, then good for you. You're probably pissed because you can't. Here's an old spoon: Now eat my ***.

elfdude
how about you go **** yourself, reading the code is lame, why would you need to read it unless you want to get an upper hand?
Celerity
I guess my point, at least, was that almost everything we do is geared for getting the 'upper hand'. We could play blindfolded and randomly hit keys if we wanted a fair environment. Reading the code to learn about how the numbers work is no different than exploring for gear or using consumables to give spells that your class doesn't have.
