Guest emp_newb Posted June 11, 2007 Report Share Posted June 11, 2007 Alright, so in less than one hour I have had A pinn wearing two necklaces and an earring laglocked, killed, looted with not a single word, ok, thats a possible rp angle. A level 43 char in 5 pieces of very crappy gear blackjacked, killed by a pinn qrace and looted, not a word said. A level 42 naked char killed by the same char that got the level 43, same as above A level 30 char that was pking a char of opposite alignment legitimately, and was ganged by an ogre ranger, blatantly, and both chased me from mahn tor, back and forth towards forsakenlands and Rheydin. What the hell happened? The first three I guess I should expect, since it is nearing pinn, but level 30? Ganged by a pally and ogre ranger? The ogre ranger was not even logged on, I got one pk, and then suddenly the ogre ranger has logged on and is after me. I believe that is some semblance of OOC abuse. Any other comments to be had? If you want to truely post a thread on the pros and/or cons of the current player base you would have to do better then this. I imagine this one will just be locked. Quest races live their RP, most live it through PK. Perhaps the ogre was a friend of the other. If you saw one of your friends getting in a fight would you sit by and say 'I'm going to have to step in for the following reasons...blah blah..blah blah blah." No, you'd come up behind the other guy and rabbit punch him in the back of the skull. Words are not RP. They can be, but aren't all the time. My first quest race was Azantar. Want to know how many words I said before I was made undead? 0. It was my RP. On the other hand, I think I had maybe 2 PK's under my belt when I was quested as well. The thread you made itself is fine, but the title isn't. You are venting, which I do alllll the time when something comes up that upsets me. But I don't blame it on other people, I just vent. From the looks of the post, it doesn't say he died, said a 30 was ganged by a pali and Ogre Ranger which is utterly ridiculous at those levels. Yeah, it happens, but that's for qraces people, since when did it become goods right to do that? Seriously, leave it for the evils who can do it right. *dismay* And as for a 50 PKing a 42 and 43, it's not exactly against the rules. It is however something not very hard to do and rather not sportsmanship like since they're at a HUGE disadvantage. But like I said, it's not against the rules. savnt Posted June 11, 2007 Report Share Posted June 11, 2007 Well, honestly, this has always happened from back when conclave ganged justices and two notorious (now) players ganged with a ninja and thief... blackjack and strangle chaining someone till they were nude and blind and then group killing them in the thirties. Also, goodies would sometimes kill goodies without too much of a repurcussion far before pinnacle. Fastforward to 2.0 with the mass silent cabal gangers. A group of knights would group gang someone, then a AIM msg would go out and everyone in Nexus would pop up and do the same to Knight. Or at the same time, you have blademasters running around silently slaying everything they could see... because they could. That, in culmination with the usual vamp,undead,demon hopefuls... bleh. With the advent of 3.0 ... I don't know... I don't want to get the post locked for going after certain fired imm's... but some people did some shady things to say the least. A banshee comes to mind, for example. The short and long of it is that except for rp spikes from out of nowhere... things aren't perfect here by a long shot. What you have here is how this mud has always worked. I am not saying the good outways the bad... but the adrenaline and constant fear is what most people crave. I can't say that isn't half caused by the silent pkers and gangers. Anyways, my suggestion would be to post it in a prayer or handle things yourself. I've made cheaters/silent pkers delete before. Not hard. Usually takes one or two... sometime eleven (in one instance) deaths... but they will delete. Easiest to do this with a ninja. As far as I have seen, the general level of the MUD (areas, equipment, skills, options) has gotten better. The general behavior of the playerbase -might- have decreased (and that is debatable), but unless we start slaying everyone whenever someone vents after getting killed, it will be up to the playerbase to improve their own behavior. Look at the cabal warfare rules in the Divine Mandates section. It was completely Repealed by Chayesh. Often what happens is you start well. Take Watcher and Tribunal for example. We used to fight each other one on one for a while, then maybe two tribbie/watcher ganged the other. Next time we all log on we want revenge and the giant ganging circle continues to this day. Its no illegal, its a flaming war. Last night I was in Rhydien on the a lowbie and I watched Corin attack Issasthys to shorlty be joined by Wyslign in the assualt. Issasthys didnt even bat an eye, just upped and ran. Albeit Corin did tell the faerie to back off. Im not saying I dont hate it. I hate it. It makes me angry and pissed off when I recall and I have a tribby waiting at my pit. But hey. Thats the way it works at 50 Pk and cabal warfare. Its up to us to maybe take a step back and be like.. And why complain that Rank 50's are attacking your lowbie? If it's not legal, it wouldn't be possible. It'll just be all Rank 50's in the Rank 50 PK range. However, one person killing you and another person closing the door to trap you in an area that isn't in your PK IS illegal as it's happened to me in the past and REALLY pissed me off. (this has happened to me before so I understand the frustration) You attack a party that has only one PK then a groupmate kills someone and they rank into your PK range and attack you. Its a bummer but it happens. I say this because the odds that someone would be able to talk to a friend on AIM while defending themself only to have said friend log in in the exact spot (or very close to) that you are fighting and be in your PK range is very highly unlikely. BECAUSE WE ALL WERE. I remember getting ganked at 33 with my storm zerk thinking I was the shiznit cause I killed a drow voker who didn't have protective shield up and I bodyslamed, it made me feel good. But in the end, always and forever, it is your fault you died. Rip my thread apart but just remember, revenge is always better than straight pk. I've seen a game progress from beta to now and from it as a whole everyone that plays now is better. Frustrating to some I love the fact that there is hardly a skill gap in pk or rp. As for the "gangs" "trashy pkills" thats always going to happen, just like the earth revolves around the sun. In fact I don't think its even that bad anymore or atleast it is not like how it was in 1.0. You should play some other muds the "ganging" is much much worse. Just think of it like this... If you are getting thrashed by two, three, even four people then you must be doing something right for them to have to do that. What I am saying here is instead of complaining about it take the positive from it and be like wow dude I am the Freaking man cause five dudes can't bring me down or it takes five dudes to bring me down. If you think these two characters are from the same IP, let the IMMs know about it. I turn these in when I hear about them. You don't see or hear what happens, but it's quite nice when you don't see these characters running around anymore. It'll get you a brief respite. I say brief respite because it is up to the players to decide how honest or dishonest they are going to be and reap what they sow in the end. It's an endless cycle, it's been here longer than I have, and it will come and go as the tide ebbs. And someone give Dobson his pills. Or some pills. Anything. But Melinda, honestly, you can't say the first time you got a pk you didn't hit a power trip. We all got it, maybe still do, but that is all they are after.
