tassinvegeta
What happens when you've a got a few combos you're interested in playing, but you don't have the rp for any of them? I've always had some reason/desire to play every other char I've had in the past that had some reason other than just to own people but now I'm completely clueless. Does anyone else know what i'm talking about? And better yet how do you get yourself out of it?
Tantangel
In which sense? You mean having a character but you can't figure out what RP angle to go? I start every character like that, I don't bother making an RP right away because I'll eventually come up with one, at least by the time I hit 15 or get my description check. You'll eventually come up with a way to talk as well, so that's nothing to worry about either. If I want to, I'll roll up a race/class just to try it out whether I have RP for it or not. You'll find the RP for the character by interacting with other players anyways. If you want it, make it and play it, don't let the lack of RP influence you in the negative. If people ask you what your aspirations are, tell them you don't know.

a-guitarist
I usually wait until I've written a description. Which I do before I roll or while I'm rolling. I see an imagine of the character in my head, the first one that comes, I start typing. Then as I go on, I see what he looks like and think, "What made him/her/it like that? What caused that mark on their nose? Why do they wear a white robe with green trim?" That's how I do it. a-g EDIT: Oh, and if you hate the RP you come up with and think of a better one, roleplay that you took a spill down the Dragon Teeth Mountains and hit your head. Forgot everything. And start anew.
mya
Instedd of creating a character for the RP let the RP grow as the character grows. As in life people change and so should character change. For example, imagine i have a paladin with i wish to become a knight avatar, but half way i enter the academy and found it extremely fun to give lessons. I kill the initial RP and just have fun naturaly.
Icor
Errr-right, but always have an initial RP. Player-kill only to roleplay, never roleplay only to player-kill.
Kyzarius
Errr-right' date=' but always have an initial RP. Player-kill [i']only to roleplay, never roleplay only to player-kill. thats like saying dont inhale to exhale, but exhale to inhale. When a character is made I always have their look and their religeon figured out. Perhaps a quirky personality trait or two, the rest just comes in time. I have developed rp as a character levels through pkill the interation there, and I have had that lightning strike of an idea for my rp on a particular character during conversation. People need to stop seperating the two (rp and pk) they are the same.
Icor
Noooooo it isn't. What I meant was don't come up with a roleplay just for the 'out' to murder anyone you see. Always refer to the "how" and "why" of your roleplay to decide if you're going to murder everyone you see, even if your roleplay is as shallow and tasteless as "I'm a psycho killer who has no soul". In other words, player-kill only to fullfil your roleplay, never roleplay for the soul purpose of player-killing.
Pali
I'm with Tant on this one. Only occasionally do I make a char with a definite RP made up beforehand, and that's only if I came up with an idea out of the blue that seemed fairly original (Xxtyx, for instance). Most of what I consider to be my better RPed chars (Pali, Galadran, Victol, Vhalen...) I just rolled up and ran with.
Aulian
Ill post this for all your benifits: We WANTED it because it was new and unique and compelling. We wanted to give you all something that would REALLY challenge you all, regardless of what character you played. Some you took to it well. Others...well, let's just say it didn't go so well. The point is you throw your RP out there and roll with it. You don't "win" at FL. This is not Neverwinter Nights with a quest and an ending. You continuously evolve as a character the way that you grow and change and develop as a person. THAT's RP of the highest caliber. Watershed RP, RP that stands above the rest, is RP so earth-shaking, so powerful, that it FORCES your character to make a choice, make a decision, or form an opinion about a character with whom you may have NEVER even spoken or met. That is the definition of character impact. I wish so many more of you would have seen and used the opportunity that it presented because it's a rare thing. -Chayesh
