Having been poisoned/plagued/blinded whatever' date=' and ran inside cabals myself to heal, I have been chased, numerous times, inside my own cabal, by the enemy. So I don't really understand, maybe it was just my enemies, but imo, the cabal is -not- a safe haven, even for a couple of ticks. Haven't had a warrior type enter my cabal, but its been mages/communers.[/quote']
Perhaps you have had your standard captured. Then anyone can enter your cabal. If not though, they have to kill the guard first. Which is not a very easy task for a lot of the classes.
Entering cabals while poisined/plagued
Hmm, that very well could have been.
Shrug, its not a broken mechanic because its available to ALL classes. I cant tell you how many clerics/shamans saved their skins because they would be poison/plagued from my weapons and then run in and hide behind their cabal guard.
It's not a broken mechanic, it's just a mechanic that I don't like having in place.
Yeah' date=' but that same thought process invokes the counter thought. Don't leave your cabal area if there is a shaman on.[/quote']
You'd think cabal Imms would punish people who hid in their cabal just because a shaman was on the same as they would someone who fled from a shaman into their cabal.
I think it's a bit cheap, and it's not a tactic I like to resort to. But as my shamans, I never had all that much trouble killing people who hid at their cabal guard. Don't forget that you do not heal mana or hp while sitting there, so you are effectively in an hp/mana limbo.
The shaman can voodoo you with things like dysentery, visitation and enfeeble. Or they can just run in the room and keep harming you since you're not going to regenerate anyway. Meanwhile the shaman can sit just outside, comfortably healing themselves back to full hp. The person can't sit there forever, and they can't go inside unless you plague, poison or blind them.
Regarding players who run over several areas just to get back to their cabal guard. It should not be that easy to just bolt away from a shaman, not if they've landed enfeeble, insomnia, and/or dysentery. Dysentery/insomnia stops regen almost as surely as plague/poison does.
If someone is being lame and sheltering in their cabal all the time, note to an Imm about it. In the mean time, try to kill them using other spells. You will be surprised how well they work.
Heh, Nekky. You can't voodoo dysentery or visitation silly. Also, enfeeble lets them back into their cabal as well. With Perniciant awhile back, I ended up just harming people to death. It's something you gotta do, but the reasoning isn't getting any better.

That's not true.
And we are not talking just about shamans. Every class can poison. What does this mean? We shouldn't fight our cabal enemies at their cabals? Riiiight...

That's what I'm saying. ![]()
I'm still pretty sure that in the room where the cabal guard is, you don't heal hp or mana. But anyway...
I'm not against the idea, I was just suggesting some other tactics that someone might try before any changes that may/may not come in. If they changed it so plague/poison people couldn't enter cabals, I wouldn't mind at all.
And yes, f0xx. I am suggesting that no one should ever fight anyone at their cabal. Or anywhere where they can run to their cabal. Or anywhere where they can use a gatestone to get back to their cabal. In fact, I was actually suggesting no pk anywhere.
See what happens when people take what you say out of context then form a totally hysterical conclusion?
I am aware that any class can wear certain gear that poisons. But 90% of the people in this thread who were saying this affected them mentioned playing shamans.
I'm sorry if suggesting some alternative types of PK sounded to you like "No PK at cabals ever!".
Talk about ... wait for it, "Mass hysteria"! Oh God, I'm hilarious ![]()
I must say that this game always tolerates the cowards, a warmaster that hides in their cabal and a tribunal that hides in the jail. And I laugh my *** off when I see "the elites" doing it as well.I sometimes even think that they will sell their mother for some nice eq suit.

Actually I agree with this.
People will say "report them to their IMM". The question here though, is why do we keep a mechanic that is proved to be abused and flawed. I am tired of reporting and reporting. In the end it is I who look like I whiner. And I am not.
We have this mechanic for no reason. We have immortals who say they punish their members for using this tactic. YET we still keep the mechanic? WHY?
Again - allow anyone to flee past the cabal guard. Fixes everything. Very simple change.
To prevent thieves/ninjas from just hanging out in cabals, make it so that this can only be done when a member of that cabal is on - that way they still know you are in there.

That fixes nothing.Because when I am trying to flee inside his cabal he already will be cured and I will be -300 hp because of his guard. And what if I play a necromancer or a dark knight?I will loose my charmies. The thing that fixes everything is just remove this mechanic out of the game. You are poisoned, plagued and enfeebled.Good job get out of the cabal, too bloody!
An alternative I'd also find acceptable.
