Deykari
So, after spending a bit of cash redoing almost everything in my PC just a couple of weeks ago, I turn it on, on Sunday morning. I didn't even have chance to press the power button. I put the plug in the socket, flicked the switch on the power socket, and I almost jumped three storys when the plug socket gave off a nice blue flash, and a loud popping sound. Would you have guessed it, the PC now won't turn on. I've tried allsorts of simple things but to no avail, and I just can't afford to spend more money on this hunk of **** after spending on it already. Hope I can get this thing fixed soon... Chayesh
Did you reset the surge protector?
Deykari
It didn't need resetting; all that is plugged into it works apart from the PC power cable. I've tried a new power cable, still not working. Dey
Dale
Try replacing that thing in the back with the fan in it, that happened to me once but I jsut speant like 5 hours taking apart old comps and putting peices together until I found the problem and that was it. You know the thing that the power cord hooks up into your comp at. I don't know **** about computors and I was surprised that it worked.
Deykari
Yea, the power supply. One of the things that was the cause of my last problem. I'll stretch to buying (another) new power supply and try that, if that fails I'll see if I know any computer hardware-literate people to come check it out. Thanks again, Dey
Tantangel
You could always return your power supply you just bought if it was brand new and all. Just say it sucked and blew up your computer again.
WarriorCleric
Well, Just hope it didn't blow your motherboard and or other parts aswell. And check your motherboard to see if the 'stand by' light or whatever it is, comes on when you plug in the powersupply when everything is connected, but the machine hasn't been powered on yet. If thats the case, it may not be the psu. WC
Dale
As WC said, if that light comes on(if it has a light) that may not be the problem. I don't know **** about comps I just kinda lucky when I managed that.
Warpnow
make sure you aren't over working it...like you don't have 700 watts worth of crap plugged into a 120w power supply
