Crucial
Okay Im sure we've all had this happen. We are in a group and we start hunting you get your first bit of exp and its "oh my god! its only 200 exp each kill ill be here all day!" So what do you say to tell the others you are learning more poorly than you had hoped? I like to say. 100 exp Im learning next to nothing. 200 exp Im learning very little. 300 exp The learning is fine but could be better. 400 exp learning is good 500 exp anything exciting that my character would say. What do you like to say? And how do you get the point across?
CruelEdict
I haven't had a problem with OOC talk since early 2.0, and even then it was pretty rare. Newbie Chat and the Academy have done a good measure at eliminating this. Most people describe it as learning now, which is good.
Pali
I like to look at it as a measure of how much my efforts would be pleasing to my guild... if I'm not getting much, I'll tell people that my guild is not very impressed by our ability to kill xxx mob. WagesofSin
I like to look at it as a measure of how much my efforts would be pleasing to my guild... if I'm not getting much' date=' I'll tell people that my guild is not very impressed by our ability to kill xxx mob.[/quote'] That's a good one, I'll have to use it . What i wonder, however, is whether its against RP to tell your group mates how much you have left? Often I would hear something to the effect of "I must only slay three more" and many times I would have the other group mate say that it's OOC to say such a thing(of course he said it in his own IC way) because by their reasoning there is no such thing as a level requirement in real life. How would you guys look at it?
CruelEdict
Eh, I don't see that as OOC. It is just a needed piece of game lingo that keeps us IC without ignoring the obvious system in place. Just how it must be to suit the game mechanics and RP, I think. That's a good one' date=' I'll have to use it . Crucial
I say "the guildmaster has sent word, I gain my next title after this brute" Or end it with whatever personality the evil good or neut would say.
Guest Birdman
I normally give really vague answers when asked how many more we have to kill. Stuff like "Let's finish off this lot," or "I'd like to spend another day or two in the forest." In response to questions like "How's the learning," it's easy to respond with "I'm happy to slaughter these mongrels," or with "These creatures are fodder. Let's find stronger foes." I don't think it's all that important to convey exactly how much xp I'm getting per kill... If it's not enough, my character will make it known
Kinicky
Myeh. I consider each rank/title as having prerequisites you have to meet to get them - like accomplishing a quest. IE., Kill 20 snails and you will be promoted. As such, saying taht I only have three left is what I have to acquire my goal. The titles and such are IC, hence why they are titles and not just 'Level 23 Dark Knight'. To ignore the titles altogether because "there is no such thing as a level requirement in real life" misses what can be a great RP point. Just my thought. Deptore
I'm pretty direct with it, I usually say that as I grow older my guild requires more work from it's elder members for us to progress.
corpsestomp
I usually say something to the effect of, I don't learn much from (insert mob name).
Talcian
Here is a related question. What about when some ask what rank you are? How do you answer this? I usually say something like I've been promoted 37 times or something. Is that acceptable?
Dale
I usually just say I am the rank of (current title) and leave it at that.
Kinicky
heh. Again, I see ranks in guilds similar to belt ranks in martial arts. I may be brown belt, or the 5th rank. So in game, I just say I am at my 43rd rank, or whatever it is.
