Guild Going - A Study Concocted by Mathicus Flon.
First Completed on Sevenday, the 47th of Order, Winter of 626 PC
This is a single-sitting lesson that can quite possibly have many subjects attached. For the sake of materials (which were graciously provided by the Academy), this will touch on the basics of Guild life, primarily for young students or even adventurers. Between each lecture, the class will have a moment to ask questions, all of which will be answered to the teachers best ability.
The art of Guild-going is in fact an art. This plan should help any teacher of city life, medicine, war, politics, etc., guide young ones in their life of serving any one guild.
Firstly, guild life is not easy. There will be chores, then tasks, then responsibility. Most of these chores will involve venturing to the hunting grounds, and fighting with a group as a leader, or a follower. This will test your ability to take orders, as well as give them, and ultimately aid you in learning what the outside world is like. Most importantly, however, it will help you learn who you are by forcing you to meet others. Even a cleric or bard can gain from hunting in a group, and it is required by every Guild in Aabahran that the students spend most of their learning time learning how to fight.
Secondly, guild masters are the ones who send you ranks, which are new titles. They are to be respected at all time. Titles are gained as you fight. All guild masters rank their students on how much time theyve spent in the field.
Thirdly, privilege is a large part of guild life. As you gain respect from your guild master, he or she will make it a priority to teach you new ways sculpt your potential into power. Take advantage of the skills, learn them well, and never be afraid to look into the 'help' scrolls.
Fourthly, guilds are linked to the cities, and their government. If you belong to a guild in one of the major cities, then the guild most likely belongs to a branch of the Royal House. Please, be a good example, and respect the Royals - this will help your master remain above reproach, and ensure that your profession stays strong.
