Timeline of Aabahran's History
The following is a comprehensive timeline of some of the most notable events of Aabahran's vast history. Please keep in mind that this is a work in progress, and that its contents may change as new discoveries are made. It is intended to serve as a reference for anyone seeking the knowledge of Aabahran's past. As you read, I implore you to consider the saying: "They who do not heed the lessons of history are doomed the repeat the mistakes of the past."
THE FIRST AGE
-=Genesis=- Though little is known of the origins of the world, many scholars believe that over 2000 years ago Aabahran was inhabited exclusively by the Elder Races; the ancestors of the modern Elves, Dwarves, Illithids, etc. For reasons unknown, these races fled to the corners of the world, remaining unseen to the humans that much later occupied the midlands of Aabahran.
-=Early Civilization=-
1000-200 B.C. Humans settle within the midlands of Aabahran, establishing the city of Anduin and occupying the wilderness of Danatha'nir (now the Forsaken Lands, Miruvhor, and Shadowy Woods).
200-150 B.C. Anduin falls and Caranduin rises in its place as the new center of human activity. The religions of Life and Order grow in popularity and become the standard human faiths. The Houses of Rel'thor and Tha'los come into power within Caranduin.
150-50 B.C
Humans expand to the west, founding the city of Thalos; and to the east, establishing the fortress S'handor. Raymund Tha'los and Balwen come into power within Thalos and S'handor respectively. Humans enjoy a period of peace and productivity.
-=The Cataclysm=-
50-25 B.C. Human civilizations continue to expand. The Order of Light in S'handor is established but later disbands, having only superficial duties. The seer Damnil reveals a series of prophecies that tell of several catastrophes and the coming of chaos.
25-20 B.C. Damnil is exiled from Caranduin. Worshippers of Death and Chaos emerge among the human cities. Vergat (later Virigoth) fails an attempt to seize kingship of S'handor and is exiled from the fortress. Zigmut and Amedus reinstate the Order of Light in S'handor. The Thalos Militia and the Caranduin Guard are established.
20-10 B.C. Dyphrities spawns an entity of pure death known as the Nameless. The Nameless raises an army of both undead and human followers, including Vergat. Vergat dubs himself Virigoth and is promoted to commander. Plagues and other virulent diseases terrorize the human population. The armies of the Nameless lay siege upon Caranduin, Thalos and S'handor. King Aemundis of Caranduin dies from an incurable disease, bringing an end to the rule of House Rel'thor.
10-1 B.C. The Order of Light, Thalos Militia, Caranduin Guard, and Tribes of Danatha'nir band together to repel the forces of the Nameless. Amedus constructs the Pillar of Souls and uses it to trap the Nameless. Humans enjoy a year of victory.
0-1 P.C. Lysenties, Dyphrities, and Nercuros align in a perfect triad around Aabahran. A rift into the Nexus of Chaos opens in the heart of Danatha'nir. Several natural catastrophes ravage Aabahran.
-=The Bloodletting=-
1-15 P.C. The Legions of Chaos enter Aabahran from the rift, led by the demonic entity, Crypticant. Caranduin and Thalos fall to the invading forces and are left in ruins. Minaus, leader of the tribes of Danatha'nir, falls to Crypticant. Spirits of the forest revive Minaus as the first Minotaur. Virigoth rises to Immortality and unleashes the power of the Nameless. Virigoth invades S'handor and curses its inhabitants with unlife, including King Balwen (known as Khalandar).
15-25 P.C. Remnants of the human race, led by Palison, Raght and Athaekeetha consolidate within a stronghold near the ruins of Thalos. Minaus takes the remaining tribesmen to the Alpine. Palison, Raght and Athaekeetha rise to immortality and attack Virigoth and Crypticant directly, beginning the God Wars.
25-30 P.C. Crypticant is locked away in another plane, and the Nexus rift is sealed. Virigoth retreats into the darkness. Lacking leadership, humans, undead, and demons scatter about the lands. The Bloodletting subsides. An earthquake of unknown origins sweeps through Aabahran (now believed to be the breath of Gaia and origin of the Werebeasts).
