Irpel Brpel, Bard Hero

Faces In Time · by Herald Daemian Sathyr

Most denizens of Aabahran have at least heard of Irpel Brpel, and many more know it well. A tome regarding it's histories graces our libraries, revealing it's origins and purpose. However, that tome has recently been found outdated, and does not speak of Irpel's current status. It is the Eyes and Ears of Lord Bryntryst, the good-natured spy. It is the epitome of what we call Hero.

Irpel was created through dark magics, the pet of a Necromancer, and as such was said to have no soul. While troubling, Irpel did not concede to the sadness, and vowed to spend it's existence putting smiles upon other's faces. And that is precisely what it did, for along while. But the sages say that all must come to the end, when it's time draws near, and such was the case with Irpel Brpel. It's strength began to recede, and colors drained from the world. It grew increasingly tired, and spent much more time asleep in order to recover. It's condition became steadily worse, until it was nearly time for Irpel's death'. This is where Lord Bryntryst, deity of Balance, intervened. He brought Irpel to his home within the Higher Plains, and explained the predicament.

Irpel was a creature of magic, and when the Necromancer who

had created it had died, his spells slowly began to unravel. Over time, the arcane energies which powered Irpel began to fade, enough so that Irpel would no longer be able to function. Obviously Irpel was upset, however the good news was to come. Lord Bryntryst offered to infuse Irpel with his own powers, in order to keep it alive, if Irpel would do his bidding. Without question, Irpel accepted. Lord Bryntryst claimed that, since Irpel had created a heart and soul were none were meant to be, he had risen above the ranks of the mortal caste, and as such was worthy of Lord Brytntryst's infusion. There was a condition, however, as Irpel would be required to keep a strict look-out for Avariel, Bryntryst's rival deity. This was no deterrent for Irpel. And so it was that he was risen above us to become the Bardic Hero of Aabahran, and the right hand of Bryntryst. This tome is to give testament to his living legacy, and provide proof for the argument that a soul can be created, through faith and perseverance.
