Aabahran

Wodua the Illuminati

Creature Compendium · by Scribe Lythiel Atreius

When one looks to the night sky, it is not uncommon to wonder about the mysteries it holds, the infinite possibilities that linger beyond the abyss of planets, moons, and stars. Thus it is a rare gift, indeed, when we are given even the slightest glimpse of these wonderous mysteries. One such wonder hails from a Star within an immeasurable distance of our own world; and I do not use the word "immeasurable" with an intention to describe a great distance, for I cannot begin to comprehend by which mathematicaly-advanced standard such a distance abides by. For all that is known, it may span thousands of leagues, billions of star-clusters, or perhaps it is merely an unseen plane away, a world parallel to ours. I will not pretend to know the answer. What is known, however, is that this Illuminati by the name of Wodua, who has come from the blazing world of his Star, did not happen upon Aabahran by chance. His coming is a story of unyielding courage, determination, and a burning passion for the preservation of his (and our) way of life.

It would indeed be difficult to miss the peculiar Illuminati. His fiery presence (and I mean that in the most literal of ways) can be sensed by touch, sight, smell, sound, and taste. Neither the blind, nor the deaf, nor any caste of people lacking a perceptive sense are spared when his ember-like form enters a room. From observation alone, one can discern his person to be of humanoid-like structure, albeit far more alienesque and angelic in visage and wings; but it is the phoenix-fire opalescence surrounding him that sets him apart from all others.

From an awe-inspiring interview, I learned that these celestial beings, these Illuminati, are guardians of the balance of power and energy of the Stars. They have, since ancient times, regulated the searing reach of the Stars' deadly but life-giving rays. Without such restraints, the consequences would be catastrophic. Stars would likely implode, wreaking havoc upon neighboring star-clusters and to all worlds touched by these beacons of light not excepting our own world. Presently, Wodua is among us in search of a missing leg in this vital structure of balance: his father Meechri, a Guardian of the Second Star whose last known whereabouts are within our world. A mingling of desperation and hope fuels his quest, bringing him to the Tower of the Savants where he may find an ally in the study of Magic and Time.

While I am personally greatful for such a visit from the Illuminati; a visit that has given me the oppurtunity to see a land reachable only by my imagination; I pray for the sake of our world and Wodua's that his search is fruitful, and that both he and his father may return to protecting one of the many things we consider simple and natural, a thing we so often take for granted: The Life-Giving quality of the Stars.
