[Eril] | | _______ | | | he particular plot of land northwest of Val Miran had for | | | centuries been a location of non-strategic interest. From | | | historical claims, Val Miran has always been the target of | | | Watcher raids given its enormous value to the surrounding | | provinces. Although the Fallen Dara could easily survive | | on its own economically, it may be true that the Halfling Hamlet | | or Ofcol could not. Given the sudden seafaring opening of the | | Crystalmir on the west side of the Hamlet, however, the small town | | began to experience a larger amount of foreigner traffic, and its | | trade value appreciated year by year. | | An artifact of the governmental restructuring loomed on in | | the form of behavioral controls, collars, invented and built in | | large quantities by the Tribune Vibbletick (says Fliblin of the | | Warmasters' Camp). Since the collars have been removed and broken, | | an uprising of protests have begun in the Hamlet of an impressive | | dissention against the Tribunal Empire and its policies. | | HIGBLOOD Lord Bregendip had these words to say on the | | matter in a missive to his subjects: "Do not be fooled [...], The | | Watchers only know destruction, and the Hamlet to them is merely | | an obstacle in their way. However, we of the Tribunal know | | better". He then stated that his desire was to protect the Hamlet, | | its history, and to allow the Halflings to live free and in peace. | | As protests continue, Empire enforcement has not yet | | withdrawn from the Hamlet though, and Halfling cries of revolt | | echo through the entire region. Fliblin, who appears to be the | | top spokesman of the Hamlet's Revolution, claims that Lord Hepheus | | has offered to withdraw Empire enforcement from the Hamlet if | | Fliblin can convince the Knights of the Crown to transfer all | | management of Maelbrim and its reconstruction to the Tribunal. | | Fliblin, however, also claims that he is not interested in such a | | deal and hopes to free the Hamlet in a more transparent and | | peaceful way. | | As chance would have it, Sir Geoffram has stated that the | | governorship of Maelbrim will remain in the hands of the Knights | | until they can audition a viable candidate to take over leadership | | during the final stages of the city's reconstruction. When asked | | whether the Knights trusted the Tribunal to protect Maelbrim, the | | Knights' answer was a very simple "no". Sir Geoffram has not | | commented on the Hamlet Revolution specifically, but the Knights | | are clearly aware of it. | | To comment myself as the Historian of the Great Library of | | this time, I found it refreshing to see the people of the Hamlet | | fighting to the beat of their own truth, for which there was a | | ring quite beautiful. | | As the events of the Hamlet unfold, please and always | | follow in the footsteps of fact and patience. | | | | Quotes by: | | Sir Geoffram Galanosis | | Lord Bregendip, Highblood | | Fliblin Ballyshack | |____________________________________________________________________| |Chief Editor: Historian Eril | The Library accepts any articles of | |any artistic merit; send any stories or expressions you wish! | \--------------------------------------------------------------------/
