The Destruction of Val Miran
Historiarum Annalis · by Scholar Mathicus Flon
During the time of the fall of Val Miran, sorrow spread through the land. An equal amount of bliss spread below the land. That which transpired during those three days of bloodshed, sadness, and joy, should be remembered for all times. Many men, women, and children were killed. Mathicus Flon, and Chrinchton were the witnesses used for information in this tome.
- Day One
The day began with clear skies. The streets were lined with merchants, story-tellers, and of course, customers. Chrinchton stood watch like he had always done, keeping all the criminals in their cell blocks, and punishing them for their doings. Then, as if out of no where, clouds of darkness rolled overhead, and took aim towards the Knight's Castle. Bolts of lightning could be seen smiting the ground around the Castle, and thunder, as loud as can be, echoing through the Tainted Valley, Chasm, and Forest of Banor.
Battle erupted in the town square of Val Miran after Watchers from the woodlands began raids. Eshaine, the Queen of Nature, was involved in this attack, which made it much more dangerous and much different from any raid before that moment in history. There were cries all through the night-dark afternoon. An endless swarm of treants flooded through the gates of Val Miran, and slowly, vines and seeds crept over the walls. Chrinchton was driven back to Ofcol. Mathicus stood inside the city during its rapid transformation, and hid long enough to watch. A power unlike any seen before blew through the city. The spores of change ripped through the buildings, crumbling the weak, and smothering the strong. Citizen who were unprepared were stolen away, drug deep into the earth. Never the less, Chrinchton led the armies of Order onward, battling both Head Hunters and Treants at once. His valiant efforts did not go unnoticed.
- Day Two
When Chrinchton returned to the city, all was in ruin. Some citizens fled to Rheydin, and thanks to the Justice, and many other warriors, they survived. Malchaeius, the Demonic God, used Eshaine's strike on the city to his advantage, however, and attacked the Justice Cabal directly. The destruction in Val Miran was a diversion. The battle at the Justice Citadel lasted shortly, as the Demonic God effortlessly took and burnt the Cabal down. The Justice flags were ripped, and Malchaeius barely gave the defenders any time. The defenseless wept, the law abiders denied it, and the murderers rejoiced.
- Day Three
The city of Val Miran was no more. The citizens fled, but found themselves trapped inside the walls. Beautiful to some, to others vile, the once grand, marvelous city was now flourishing with the smells and sounds of nature.
The tactics were revealed to all on the final day. Eshaine and Malchaeius spoke with one another there, and then headed separate ways. Chrinchton believes that Eshaine and Malchaeius joined to create this chaos. Those who believe they are still enemies are as follows: some believe Malchaeius used Eshaine to produce Chaos, others believe Eshaine used Malchaeius to take back what she believed was her land. In truth the God and Goddess tried their hardest not to slaughter one another. They struck a deal, which was not to harm one another, and to allow each other to take what they wanted. At the end, they both acknowledged that they were enemies, and ceased their hatred for one another only long enough to accomplish their goal: fuel the war between Order and Chaos.
