Reclaiming the Free Cities
Historiarum Annalis · by Herald Mathicus Flon
The reclaiming of Val Miran and Miruvhor happened swiftly, effortlessly, and tremendously. I watched as former Queen Elise orchestrated the march of a thousand storm giants on the Treants fortifying the ruins of Val Miran. The Cartel in Miruvhor were swept away in a different tide, and Martineius directed the solders of the Tribunal there. This fantastic display of warfare genius all took place under the watchful eyes of Lord Izlimak. The Tribunal left battle victorious, supreme over the enemies of three cities. Dame Elise Shaenor spoke three words to me: "This is it" -- the reunion of Order and the innocent peoples of our world. Martineius, overseer of the repossession of Miruvhor, added to the moment, saying "When night comes, I will join them".
In one night, the vines were torn down, and the bricks re-laid. Posters, prostitution, and drugs were stripped out of the city of Miruvhour. Citizens returned from hiding to repopulate the free cities; business began to thrive immediately. The banks of Aabahran began to circulate funds at an alarming rate. Schedules were re-learned, patrols were set. Victorious cries rained from the heavens. The judicial system, excelled by the presence of a balanced economy, divided into different companies, one for each city.
The flags of these Tribunal Companies were mounted in each city. The Righteous Palm, advertised by a golden banner, stationed themselves in the city of Val Miran. The city itself became a monument to the ancient kings and queens who stood for tranquility, love, peace, compassion, respect and honor. A courtyard was erected to celebrate the reclaiming of the city, and respect those who died to preserve its marvelous walls. The Crimson Fist, a bastion of vampiric soldiers, placed their red banner in Miruvhor to cast a leering, ominous shadow over the whole of the city. There tyranny reigned -- a sheer and bitter enforcement of the Law against criminality influenced through fear as a means to protect the civilization of Aabahran. The names of ancient dark lords were made timeless by a careful reorganizing of the shady city's navigable routes. The Tribunal had never been more powerful.
