I kinda agree about consumable access for buffs, but I have never seen a game that limited how many consumables you can actively consume.
WM skills
Mages use consumables as well, they just don't use them for the same thing. Mages use consumables to:
- cure blindness
- recall/teleport
- esuna
- cure crit
- shield/stone skin for the mages that don't have those skill
- bless
- flesh armor
- sanctuary
Melee have slightly different needs. I don't mind a warrior having armor, shield and stone skin up if I am on an invoker. I seriously mind it if I'm on a battlemage. The warmaster cabal can't use normal consumables, so I don't mind them having access to the normal ones at ease. But, how easy is it to cure plague with consumables on a warrior? You are going to have to work a bit harder to get ones that actually make a difference. That is the benefit of WM outside of any cabal skill.
Now, the question on should they have it is a different story entirely. But, other cabals have consumables as well. Scroll of flight, wands of sanc, staves of sanc and detect invis. The difference is the effectiveness of these consumables are less in comparison to a WM's. I'm all for upping the level of cabal items or decreasing the level of WM. Just make the somewhat equal and keep in mind that a WM can't use others outside their cabal ones.
I don't care if its a mage or a melee I think there should be a cooldown. Most mages cast spells, and other then wands and staves, which are skills you get, anything that isn't on your skills or spells list, should have a cooldown, or some sort of negative affect assosiated with it. Quaff potion affected by quaff for 3 hours. Smoke herb affected by smoke for 2 hours. If its not on your skills or spells, it shouldn't just be walk over and smoke a million. Now you want to give melee a skill smoke, just like wands or staves. Put it in a pipe and have to smoke it just the same way I have to use a wand or stave, or scroll. This free bullshit just makes super melee clerics.

I don't know. I think stance is fine the way it is. My problem is When Shamans are Savants fighting Warmasters. They can't effectively Blind/Plague/Poison. I think its far to easy for a Warmaster to remove these things. I can't even remember the last time I've seen a Savant Shaman.
That is strange because in actuality a shaman is one of the best classes against Gladiators.
Dysentery anyone?

Used to be, anyways. Barrels of milk really screwed that up.
Yes, but you still can't eat anything while under the effects of dysentery, right?
So you're not going to starve to death but you can't eat curables.

You won't starve to death thanks to milk, but you still can't consume WM curables.
Or am I totally wrong on that?

No, you’re right.
The barrels of milk stops the dysentery pooping and then the periwinkle herb cures dysentery.
And eye of manticore cures blindness you needed to stop them from smoking periwinkle
This is my exact point. Shamans need to do 3 things to try and get one thing to land, while eating dirt kicks and suffering some awesome warmaster melee. A curse, dysentery, blind, then plague!
Same for necros curse, blind, shatter and prey for the right one, then plague.
Having played several Savant Shamans and still doing relatively well, I can say it’s an extremely uphill battle. Every other cabal is easier to do well with as a shaman, and the difference is not small. Savant shamans getting V tap and Chrono Shield is nice, but being pretty limited in your mal selection is a big deterrent for the combo in general.
The only real suggestion I could make is to make WM consumables a tad more expensive so at least the shaman can play the “I will hit you in the resources” game. Having also played the flipside, it is just so easy to have tons of cure consumables on tap for most fights.
I don't even know how you can hit resources anymore with guild quests giving 60 cp to run to canyon and back
I can’t deny that either.
The blind isn't so bad. It's the plague poison mals. They should need to go to a healer like the rest of us.
Get that sweet sweet lag.
Shamans really dont bash or bodyslam very well.

Talking about using the healers like the rest of us.
Not having lag on healers is the same as giving a class bash/bodyslam wut?
Maybe we should just remove cabal healers and let people run to temples instead.

Exactly!

I definitely want you running to a cabal healer as a shaman. Then I got you.
