What does everyone think about having a level restriction for rare items?
examples:
you must be lvl 42 before you can touch titanium fullplate
you must be lvl 30 before you can touch major globe of invulnerability
i've seen quite a few people in very low lvls wearing lvl 50 rares recently is why i proposed this. Actively PKing or not, i think it provides a pretty ridiculous PK shield and gives low lvl's and unfair advantage while keeping rares out of circulation for lvl 50's who need them..

Two things. Chances are that low level will not hav ethat gear long. Period. Also that gear is in circulation.
The char will have to pinn if he wants to not get slayed/stripped.
Personally, I believe this game should be more of a sandbox style than it already is. Extra regulations will only hamper that.

That's the point though... its floating around a bunch of low lvls and app characters killing each other over it, the gear should theoretically make it into the lvl 50's pk range that doesn't necessarily mean it will. Some app characters are at 30 for weeks on end.
we shouldn't rely on pk being the only checks and balances especially when the items in question affect pk significantly at that lvl is all im saying.
I think item level should make SOME difference.
Three characters within the range of lvl 30 could acquire a lot of pretty good rares that many 50's would use. I do not think they should be using the really high end rares though until they hit 35. At least at 35 it only takes two steps of pk to transfer to someone at lvl 50.
I think rares from the following areas should be 35+
Gear, Desolation, all three factions, Cloud Kingdom, Volcano.
Any other rares should be available to any who can lay their hands on them.
I've seen some absolutely rediculously utterly decked people bellow rank 40. It's so bad it ain't even funny. We are talking about hell's fury, rings of accuracy, nimbuses, rings of evil i.e. the top notch gear!
This should simply not be possible. I used to be against level restriction on high-end gear, but I don't know...
It is funny how one of the people against the idea has had such characters, multiple times too
these are the ones I'm worried about... that's just too much for anyone under 50 to be running around with.
Show me one log, of ANYONE under 45 wearing hells fury, nimbus, or abyss.
A better suggestion, lets have a system where your total item level of your suit affects your pk range. Got that full suit of rares at 30 as an elf paladin? well expect that level 50 human thief to come jack you.
I actually like Wade's idea, each rare item has a set exp amount to it, so even at 50 if you are completely decked you pretty much limit your pk range to other 50's rather than having easy pickings on non pinns.
Iris.
I like Wade's idea a lot too.
[edit] Btw Nameless, I would like to see a log of Iris' EQ at level of 38, so just everyone knows what I am talking about
Irisithraxis got an extremely lucky find. Once a year type. If you notice I went from 32 to 41 lightning fast and only ever trained. I got avatar by complete accident (I wanted it badly, but did not even think I had a shot of getting it) I got avatar, and immediately marched to pinn.
I don't have it, but I was half in l33t gear, and half in mediocre crap. not a safe way to be armed.
I don't like the idea of level restrictions on gear. I don't even like the expanded PK range because of gear. EVERYONE dies. It doesn't matter who you are, or how decked you are, you WILL die, and your gear WILL go into recirculation at some point. I say leave it as is.
I'd love to see an immortal bump their pk range up to 50 in this situation... lol this is pretty OOC because the only reason they are "brave enough" is because of a game mechanic that is the pk range. IRL this would never happen because you'd be a corpse too.
Horse crap. If I took a loot full of pinned goodies, and imms made my pk range to 50, I would. Hide? Sorry, but at pinn a smart/good thief is gonna have the same stuff, and can get it the same way.
