You are not sure how you entered, but you know that you are still within the rubble of Shasarazade. This room seems to have been used as a hiding place, as well as a strategy room. [Exits: none] (White Aura) Aendros the Holy Knight, General of the Protectors is here, sitting astride the Goliath. (White Aura) The High Guardian of Shasarazade stands stoically before you. Aendros kneels softly. 'Guardian.' The High Guardian of Shasarazade peers intently at you with his usual penetrating gaze. Aendros looks at the Orb as he speaks, 'The Princess...where is she? The High Guardian of Shasarazade ignores your question completely as he says, 'Identify yourself.' Aendros appears startled for a moment. 'Do you not remember me? I am Aendros Aelwen. You took Palwen, Gradrel, and myself before the Princess.' The High Guardian of Shasarazade replies coldly, 'I took Aendros Aelwen before the Princess. I will certainly not do the same for any imposter.' Aendros nods sincerely, 'Aye. These are most dangerous times indeed. The High Guardian of Shasarazade says, 'Put it away.', without actually glancing at your polearm. Aendros brings the Orb to a floating position in front of him. 'Yet, I do not think any imposter would bring....this.' Aendros removes his Lance and lays it down near the High Guardian. The High Guardian of Shasarazade twitches involuntarily as the Orb revolves into sight. 'Very well' Aendros nods solemnly as the Orb returns to it's original position. Aendros bows slowly, 'Princess. We...we have found it.' Princess Orelinde removes her travelling hood as she appears before you, bowing her head momentarily. Aendros smiles briefly as his words linger. Princess Orelinde says, 'Where was it?' The High Guardian of Shasarazade stands off to the side, but still in between you and the princess. Aendros holds back a slight laugh as his memories surface, 'In a most unexpected location - within the the clockwork of Gear.' Princess Orelinde looks slightly intrigued as her eyes gleam - a rare sight, 'Perhaps it is how they managed to become so advanced.' Aendros continues, 'A Human grabbed it, at first. Then it was passed to me.' Aendros shivers suddenly as if a cold wind blew by. 'I experienced a terrible sensation as the Orb flowed about me.' Princess Orelinde watches you with interest, remaining silent. Aendros continues, managing to regain control of his body. 'It was almost as if the fate of this Orb told it's story through my limbs. I ached, all over.' Aendros continues, 'I collapsed, more than once, as we attempted to leave that place.' Aendros continues, 'We sought refuge in a Temple far from there. I felt a great evil coursing through me, as if trying to warn me.' Aendros continues, 'I could not make sense of the voices in my head. However, as quickly as it had come...the ailment subsided. You head a soft, low grumble. Was that Aendros's stomach? Aendros rubs his belly for a moment. 'It has been some time since that passed. I have been in hiding mostly.' The High Guardian of Shasarazade says 'Is it stable?' Aendros wipes his mouth with his sleeves, 'Aye, it has not been whimsical by any means.' Aendros sighs, 'But I fear their are darker powers at work here than what I first believed. The High Guardian of Shasarazade once more begins eyeing you suspiciously, 'Explain.' Aendros explains a little more, 'The Count Valadar speaks of It's coming. Something far more terrible than the Demon Lord. Aendros smirks, 'I was offered protection, by the Count and his Mistress. As though they thought they were to aid me somehow... Aendros studies the Orb as it floats about. 'These markings.' Point here and there. 'They represent the Lunar Triad.' Aendros taps his chin thoughtfully, 'Perhaps it is the Creator himself we must fear...this Orb is our saviour, perhaps. Yet I feel as though I am the sacrifice.' A winged Chaos Demon crashes through the door to the room, blocking the exit. A Hidden Location You enter a hidden room. Aendros snarls at a winged Chaos Demon. Aendros almost yells to the Guardian, 'Quick! My Lance!' A winged Chaos Demon speaks in a chilling voice, 'So..you have found another!' Aendros snarls, 'What business is that of yours, Demon? The High Guardian of Shasarazade moves Orelinde to the opposite wall, taking up stance in front of her. A winged Chaos Demon laughs darkly, a flash of vellum gleaming in its throat. Aendros glances as the Orb briefly, obviously trying very hard not to do so. A winged Chaos Demon says, 'You find an Orb, Master takes it. You find another Orb...' A winged Chaos Demon snarls, 'And what do you suppose happens?' Aendros gasps, 'Y-you...it cannot be...' Aendros snarls, 'It was stolen from me once, Demon...it will not happen again!' Aendros grabs what weapons he has still sheathed on his girdle. Aendros wields a mithril sabre adorned with a starshard. Aendros wields an ancient sceptre adorned with a glowing ember in his off-hand. The High Guardian of Shasarazade mouthes to Aendros, 'There is no other exit...I must get the Princess out safely.' A Hidden Location You enter a hidden room. A winged Chaos Demon extends to full height, well doubling the height of the exit to emphasize his position. Trying to keep his composure, Aendros wraps his hands even tighter around his weapons. A winged Chaos Demon says 'Give me the Orb, Aendros.' As if by will of its own, the Orb begins to vibrate and emit a green gleam. Aendros growls, 'I made the mistake once of letting our Hope out of reach...it will not happen again! Shaking with a mixture of fear, purpose, and honor, Aendros screams, 'LEAVE THIS PLACE!' Aendros glares at a winged Chaos Demon. Waves of pure energy radiate down to your body. You try to scream in pain, but there is no sound to describe the agony. Princess Orelinde watches with glistening eyes, frightened, yet looking pensive. As if taken over by some horrendous pain, Aendros clutches at his chest. 'I...I will not fail... Aendros thrusts a blade into the ground to support the burden of his own weight. The High Guardian of Shasarazade raises his sword and charges the chaos demon. The Orb pulls at your very existence, the simple object now something vile and hateful. In an attempt to release the burden he is under, Aendros throws off his heavy armaments. A winged Chaos Demon parries blow after blow with gleaming talons, beating the venerable warrior back with a cruel smile. Aendros rushes the Demon with a piercing yell, 'NO!!!' Aendros's charge attack *** OBLITERATES *** a winged Chaos Demon! A winged Chaos Demon's corruption MASSACRES Aendros! A winged Chaos Demon's corruption MASSACRES Aendros! A winged Chaos Demon knocks you back against the wall. The High Guardian of Shasarazade's parry finally comes a beat too late, a razor sharp talon sinking into his sword arm. Aendros pants and groans, his wounds bleeding fiercely. 'T-this...this cannot be happening.... The High Guardian of Shasarazade, still trying to defend the Princess, shouts, '..Princess...tell him! There is no other way!' Aendros glances at the Princess as he gasps for breath. 'W..what do I do.... Princess Orelinde meets your eyes, her own now streaming with tears. A winged Chaos Demon bears down upon the wounded Guardian, ignoring you and the princess. The High Guardian of Shasarazade raises his sword, in an attempt to fight back. Princess Orelinde says 'Aendros, forgive me...' Aendros manages to crawl over to Princess Orelinde as he bleeds violently. The Orb lashes at you, pulling apart the fibers of your body. Princess Orelinde chokes out, her voice barely audible through her tears, 'Bless Yaegar...say it.' The High Guardian of Shasarazade says 'SAY IT!' The High Guardian of Shasarazade continues his gruesome battle with the demon, each blow tearing at his skin. Choking on his own blood, Aendros manages to mutter two words, 'B..bless....Y-yaegar....' In a heart-stopping moment of realization, you watch as the Orb rises into the center of the room and emits a terrible whine. A winged Chaos Demon pauses uncertainly for the first time, eyes wide as it watches the orb. Princess Orelinde whispers, 'Forgive me', as the Guardian rushes her from the room. As his wounds continue to bleed, Aendros fixes his gaze on the active Orb. The Orb emits a blast of light, encompassing all parts of the spectrum. Aendros closes his eyes momentarily. Aendros closes his eyes momentarily. Aendros closes his eyes momentarily. Aendros rapidly utters holy words, attempting to sustain himself. As the energy tears you and the demon apart, a column of heavenly light encompasses you. Precipice of Purity You stand on the plateau of a surreal mountain top. Thick white clouds obscure your view to the ground below. The ocean of white extends as far as you can see in all directions. White light from an indeterminable source dances over the clouds, sending soft reflections that seem to concentrate on your location. Before you brightly polished silver tiles lead to an abrupt drop-off. This path is lined with glowing white statues of warriors in gallant poses. At the end of this path the cloud banks form a massive throne that hovers beyond the precipice. You feel the righteous call of honor, valor and courage permeate through your soul.
