Foxx your choice of analogies is very questionable.
Big Change Ideas (long)
I didn't come out and say Edges make you unkillable. I said If we are talking about balance issues, stacking edges should be looked into (more or less). Then you took it to a whole other level with your autistic sounding rants. I'm half inclined to troll people who react like you did.

There have been a LOT of changes lately, where mages benefitted way more than anything else.
There is also a LOT of inconsistency with the information that is getting out to players from my perspective. Example, If someone posted info about Edges on Discord chat, shouldn't that info be on the wiki or forum somewhere? Exactly what edges do should be known just like perks. If an IMM gave f0xx this information privately, then it should be given to everyone.
Also, equipment changes are very inconsistently reported. I've seen notifications about Meat Kleefer, Ring of Abyss and very few other things in the past few years. From what we read on the forums, it sounds like a lot more gear has been changed without any public notification. A small notificaiton like "Major Globe of Invuln has been modified" for any item changed would be desirable. I'm sure I echo the sentiment of the rest of players who aren't part of the inner IMM cabal.

Wade, I think the main problem there still is, is that people are not actually willing to test things. They have it in their head that xxx is unbalanced, therefore they do not even try.

Maybe its because changes are much more effective if people know about them? ;)
Think I got 2 players to roll chars recently simply because of what you guys told me on prayer.
I would say that longevity gets ridiculous at a point. 2 years for a single character? That's kind of ridiculous in my mind. That's like what 10% of the entire game's life? What is that in world time? An hour is 30 seconds so its like 120x, so ~240 years? Better be a long lived race or it doesn't even make sense. Turnover creates opportunity for new people to lead the cabal, to fight, to run plots.
Longevity is great if that character and player continue to push and evolve new and exciting RP. Long lasting characters typically do not. I’ve yet to see one really succeed in this department.
Most long lived characters have a few moments of inspiration and excitement, then die down again. They hog spots, stop progression, and make people stop rolling certain cabals if they are OP.
THAT being said, each and every player is allowed to play the game however they see fit. I am big advocate of longevity so long as RP is maintained. If you want a character for two years, go for it. But don’t be shocked if you just become ignored.
If Aging were brought back, then long-term chars would become very interesting. I miss that mechanic of the game.
I once aged an avian invoker intentionally because the stat change was desirable.
I am not personally against longevity at all. People keep talking about hogging spots... Our pbase is low enough that I don't think this is a factor.
In 15 years here I have had one single long lived character, and despite the bittersweet ending, it was by far my best toon ever.
Long lived chars make the game more fun imo, but fresh new chars also have their place.
I can see the argument for needing both. The one point I will concede is that a long lived pk powerhouse can and does have negative repercussions on the opposing cabal/align. This however is more of a balance issue IMO than a longevity issue.
Longevity should correlate with power. You have time to perfect your combo, gain cabal ranks, and even accrue RP. That said there should always be some kind of balance, unkillable offensively destructive combos are ultimately not that good for the game.
