Wed Sep 16 02:20:14 2009 To: Immortal Master Lahnidas of the Nexus Fortress Subject: The art of Deception and Manipulation. Upon approaching the Forsaken, Elder of the Pandemoneous and without a doubt the expert of manipulation and deception as proven by his position, I was accepted as a student. However I was told that to be trusted and be able to glean from some- thing from his bountiful knowledge I had to prove myself with an initial task. TASK 1: The collection of items as proof of navigation. I was tasked with collecting items from each of the factions as well as discord to prove myself to Lahnidas. The items collect were as follows: 1. A Fiery Robe from the Halls of Magic 2. A barbed Spike from the Iron Maiden with Evermore 3. Ice armor from the Baron within Steel. 4. A Mask of Discord from Discord - given to Thrug. Upon the completion of this task it was then time for the true tutoring in the Forsaken's expertise to begin. Manipulation and deception. The task ahead was sent to me by private courier stating that I must trick on of his men, Bruhlia. I was to lure him into a trap, allowing him to believe himself safe before I turned on him and killed him. I would easily have completed the task. Luring the ranger to the perfect position was easy however when it came time to do the deed I remembered the teachings of Dagoneto and decided that Such action was below my sense of 'honor'. Instead I devised a new plan. I would lie and convince Lahnidas that I had done the deed, proving that I had in fact mastered the arts he so wished to teach me through foul trickery. His belief of the task being completed to this day proves I have learned enough. Guarzad The student of Many. [ 15] Guarzad: The unexpected teachings of Zierras - Remorse and Regret. Wed Sep 23 01:49:17 2009 To: Immortal Having placed a bounty on my head recently Zierras was far from my favorite person. However having run into him he apologized and when asked me why I decided for the sake of my education, to investigate the matter further. He spoke of having regret for his actions. That even though I was once a friend he felt pressured to place a bounty on my head by Hhaan, so that he would have more work to do. He told me that any value he could of taken from my material possessions was no where close to that of my life. But still he fell prey to his fear and placed the price any- way. He said the feelings of guilt that he had knowingly signed the death certificate of a friend had not allowed him to have even a moments untroubled rest. He stated that he should never have betrayed me, never allowed me to be placed in such a situation. An interesting concept. That one could feel so bad about their past actions, things they cannot take back that they choose to find those they have wronged and at least offer a reason and offer an apology. This is not something I wish to experience again, but I think Master Caidon could agree that any man openly seeking forgiveness should receive such. I think this is aiding my understanding in determining that which is good and that which is evil by normal definition. I now count Zierras a friend. I conclude that that alone says enough. Guarzad The Student of Many [ 14] Guarzad: The Teachings of Kyril - Good and Evil on a Molecular Level. Mon Sep 21 22:02:41 2009 To: immortal My tuition with Kyril has been the most challenging, both in understanding and appreciation. As a guardian of knowledge within the Savant Tower, I expected to be surprised at what he had to teach me and my expectations did not fall short. Having just spent days fighting a series of Warmasters - ultimately defeating Svenik and Rothen, Kyril found time for me, despite the desire to kill me on sight for my previous relationship with Master Lahnidas. However over comming our differences was easy once he learned of or equal thirst for understanding. He decided to begin my instruction with what He called, "A simple presentation for for Lord Zhokril and Master Kendro." He created an image of a brain, a white dense mass, ugly yet unique in its own way. I had seen many before in my own travels, usually those of hapless creatures I had slain but never had I seen one like this. Kyril was able to project an image of a brain, clean and intact. He then brought me in for a closer inspection, an identification and understanding of the vibrations of what he called molecules within. Perhaps a moment to explain molecules themselves. A new and somewhat... Previously unimaginable topic for me, that our entire world is made up of tiny humming dots. More interesting is the idea of having power over these dots, something I am told Kyril has a unique ability however different in training from Lord Kendro, although that opportunity for study is now lost for me. That being said, he explained the vibration of the particles within the brain, stating how they vibrated differently between the minds of a being who is courageous, honorable and for a single word, considered 'good'. Oppositely those considered 'evil' by the same characteristic measures were shown to me as having a different vibration. As these visions got more intense I had to beg Kyril to stop, I have not the experience or the staying power to view such things for such a length of time. Instead we ended this lecture with his goal of learning how to change the vibrations of those considered 'evil' to a more neutral or even 'good' perspective. He stated that if this were to happen there would be no need for much of the violence or even any at all for neutralization of the targets would occur before the violence would begin. I feel I have much more to learn from Kyril, if not only his studies in molecules then at least his own abilities. His ability to control forces on a molecular level interests me beyond anything else I could have possibly imagined. The power of his mind is astonishing, something I had no expected in any one member of this realm. Guarzad The Student of Many __________________ [ 19] Guarzad: Salith, Avatar of Purity - The reason of his existence explained. Thu Sep 24 18:47:36 2009 To: Immortal My studies have progressed much further then I would have imagined when I began. I have found from many of my masters a recurring trend in their teachings surrounding the nature of good and evil. It seems that many of their beliefs and ideals are connected to this central tendency and the struggle for one side to either maintain balance, or gain some form of advantage over the other. I approached Salith knowing that he was an Avatar of the light, a beacon of hope and understanding for those who consider themselves champions of good. I began my learning by asking the simple question of "why". Why was he chosen to be this representation of his god manifested into mortal form to roam the lands seeking retribution for wicked deeds. He explained this to me by stating that he had not sought it, but rather that he had become this through his own belief and devotion to his God, choosing this devotion over care for his personal safety or other beliefs. I questioned him of his duties and if he is comfortable with him and his reply was; those evil souls who cannot be convinced to turn their hearts to good, they will find in him their salvation. He said he felt no regret for his actions and that he was serving the greater good no matter how his ideas were seen by the outside world. This begs the question if that murdering evil for the greater good constitutes good, then how is murdering for the greater evil considered evil? Is it not merely a balance created by one side that the other must continue? It is on my opinion something of negative aspect, a cycle through which there can be no victor, only more suffering. I am however, of the agreement that whilst the outside intent of this 'holy warrior of god' may appear to be on the side of the weak and helpless, but the definition of murder and destruction still remain the same. I have decided my research will need to be conducted with those considered of the darkness. A likely candidate for discussion is Zaulael, an undead although Zenophobynt has alluded he may be of assistance should the time present itself. Guarzad Student of Many [ 20] Guarzad: Zenophobynt of the Demonic Horde, The Demon Race - A comparison to Avatar Salith Thu Sep 24 21:05:16 2009 To: Immortal The demon was asked to explain his existence to me and how he came into this realm. He said that he had always existed, just not in this plain of existence. He said that through the willing sacrifice of his shell, he was able to enter the body with the help of a ritual conducted by Malchaeius, the demon lord himself. He informed me that within the ritual he was purified and as as host was consumed by a multitude of souls. This is similar to Salith, because from that purification became a being bent on fulfilling the desires of his God - their only purpose. Both of those dedicated themselves to their gods, through their beliefs and their devotions. Now one is bent on the destruction of evil and the other is bent on destruction alone. When asked where the souls inhabiting the being are from, they again state an unreal plain beyond my imagining. However they also reveal to me that this world angers them, they do not like that which they do not know hence the renaming of the shell to a more familiar form. Truly a being set on mindless destruction, the unfamiliar will die as he resents the weakness apparent in this realm. Both creatures are unnatural and represent a shift of balance. Who will maintain the balance and keep either side of this dangerous pivot aligned? What right have the Gods to empower these beings and set them upon the world? Something I will conduct research into at the first opportunity. Whom will maintain the balance? Guarzad The Student of Many [ 21] Guarzad: The path to Balance Thu Sep 24 21:40:53 2009 To: Immortal As I learn more and more there is the ever present understanding that balance is what keeps these lands in order. It is simple balance of power between both the corrupt and misguided forces of evil and good that must be kept in check. Whilst each believes that their purpose is supreme, each proves to be a danger to such a balance. Even more so would suggest one of those empowered by their gods. Blinded by their dogma from reason and peace. They will force the hands of violence for that is the will of their gods - Supremacy. Two paths lay before one who seeks to maintain the balance as I see it. Those who call themselves the Tribunals, the law keepers and the so called keepers of order and those who protect nature and the natural order, the Watchers. It is easy to see that whilst the law keepers feel that they are keeping balance they are but another force that struggles for the domination of others. Leaving only one true path for balance, the keepers of Gaia - The Watchers. However like any ideology one must be wary of becoming to embedded, one must be aware that passion can be the curse of every man. One must exercise the power of ones mind to maintain control and understanding over his actions so that they are subjective in maintaining this balance. Having spoken to Zierras about his duties he has informed me of being brought into other struggles, distracting from his place of maintaining balance, maintaining the order of the world as it should be. If I were to fulfill the purpose I now see forming for me,the maintenance of that fragile balance, I will need to seek the mental training to stick with it. Once again I am in need of Master Kyril.
