A Wilderness Trail

[Exits: east south]

(Charmed) A large, menacing wyvern perches here.

(Charmed) A displacer beast snarls here.

A halfling clad in mixed leather stands off the trail here.

This somewhat dirty halfling looks like he hasn't bathed or changed his

clothes in a long, long time. His skin has been blackened by the sun and

the layer of dirt upon it almost makes him look like part of the ground

itself. He is wearing mixed leather clothes, complete with a leather cap.

He is obviously an outdoorsman, but it isn't readily apparent why he is

standing around on this remote trail.

A leather-clad halfling is in excellent condition.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' greetings.

A leather-clad halfling nods at Jaspurr and utters, 'Jaspurr RunAmok. Hail.'

You nod.

A Bubbling Grove

[Exits: north]

An elderly man resides here, sitting alone.

A large wyvern flies in.

A displacer beast walks in.

This looks to be a halfling that has been living here for far too long.

While obviously ancient, his body is remarkably healthy and limber. He is

able to manage this small ranger camp without much aid, probably because he

has been doing it for most of his active life. This man is definitely

learned about the ways of the ranger and is probably a teacher of sorts for

this area.

An elderly halfling is in excellent condition.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' hail, Soido, great Ranger.

An elderly halfling looks to Jaspurr and utters, 'You sure come a real long way since I first taught you to hide in the woods, young Jaspurr. Well, not so young any more.'

You smirk.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I am far from old too, good Soido.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' how go things here in the Hamlet?

Soido shrugs and says to Jaspurr, 'Hell. I dunno; I don't go back in at all.'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' why not?

Soido says to Jaspurr, 'Why should I? Giants guard the place tellin' me ta watch out fah dis or watch fah dat. They like ta go bossin me, but I been here much longer'n thems!'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' A shame.

Soido raises his voice to Jaspurr, 'Hell tis! Bout damned tired o' bein pushed round by giants, and humans, and dwarves, and ogres. Guy who runsza place now's an Ogre! Big and ugly!'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I believe I've seen him. The Captain of this Mercenary guard.

Soido spits and says to Jaspurr, 'Mercenary! Hah. Thugs. For fire. Dat's it! If was jussin a wee younger, I'd pop em one good to show that we ain't to be pushed around! Well. Hell. That's why I'm livin out here, and I ain't goin back in.'

You nod.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' Well, you are never too old to make a change.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' And I bet your punches still hurt.

The sun slowly disappears in the west.

Soido calms down a bit at Jaspurr's words: 'Hah. I s'pose. Well, I still ain't goin in. I'll stay rightchyer. I can still teach young rangers a thing or two. Can show you a thing or a two I bet.'

You would need a little luck.

An elderly halfling looks just as disinterested as you.

An elderly halfling is about the same size as you.

Soido challenges Jaspurr, 'Ahh, C'mon! Ya wanna go.' The elderly halfling still moves skillfully and circles Jaspurr.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' No, Soido. I would not like it. I wouldn't want any accidents. I have accidentally killed a few of my friends doing just this sort of things.

Soido smirks and says to Jaspurr, 'Some friend you are.' He eases up and relaxes his body, putting down his dukes.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' What a spirit you have.

Soido says to Jaspurr, 'Psh. I'm guessin' so. You know you got it too, Little RunAmok. Dyin breed we are, ya know? These halflings in there today. Hell. They wouldn't know a fighting spirit if it slapped em across the facialens.'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' You think so?

Soido responds to Jaspurr in a fiesty tone, 'Think so? Know so. Go on and look around at them Hobbits in there. All REAL fat, and lazy. There's a couple in there training, you know they got dat school en all.'

Soido says to Jaspurr in a fiesty tone, 'A melee school. But no Halflings are enrolled, I'd bet. Look at em! They play music and joke and dance all day and play with sparklers! None of em workin, none of learning to fight. That's why they hire…

Soido says to Jaspurr in a fiesty tone, 'That's why they hire this mercenary guard.'

You nod.

Soido says to Jaspurr, 'Just go on in and look! See for yourself! Hobbits today...lazy!'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I shall go see for myself, good Soido. It was good to see you.

Soido responds to Jaspurr in a calmer tone, 'Aye, yaz too. Ya come a long way, little RunAmok. Long way. Maybe you can get these Halfings to get tehir spirit back!'

Jaspurr smiles weakly.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' maybe.

You tip your hat gallantly.

Soido tips his hat and says to Jaspurr, 'Whenever ya git the guts, come and take on and old Hobbit, eh?'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' aye, Soido. Aye.

*Walking*

Approaching a Small Hamlet

[Exits: north south west]

(White Aura) A huge stone giant champion is guarding the approach to the hamlet.

(White Aura) A huge stone giant champion is guarding the approach to the hamlet.

A displacer beast walks in.

A large wyvern flies in.

A huge stone giant champion peers at you searchingly as you walk past.

A huge stone giant champion says 'Welcome to the Halfling Hamlet! Do me a favor and don't cause any trouble, Jaspurr.'

A huge stone giant champion peers at you searchingly as you walk past.

A huge stone giant champion says 'Welcome to the Halfling Hamlet! Do me a favor and don't cause any trouble, Jaspurr.'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' Why would I cause trouble cause trouble in my old home?

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I'm a RunAmok.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I'm from here.

The two giants look to each other. One steps forward and says to Jaspurr, 'We know who you are. Just don't cause no trouble. We there guards here. Got that?'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' This is what I got.

Jaspurr extends his weapons from their sheaths, exposing just enough to catch the giants' attention.

The Giants look toward each other once more, then back to Jaspurr. The talkative one says, 'We ain't skeered, and you ain't gonna cause no trouble, ya little squirt!'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' You talk with all the inhabitants here like that?

The talkative giant says to Jaspurr, 'Just ones like you, who causin trouble!'

The one in the back eggs on his partner and echos behind him, looking at Jaspurr, 'Yeah, causin trouble!'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I cause no trouble here, and if you continue to disrespect me, I will have to teach you a lesson.

The talkative giant smirks and responds to Jaspurr, 'What you gonna do to us? You little; we big. We bigger; we better.'

The parrot-like giant in the background confirms and eyes Jaspurr: 'Yeah, bigger better!'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' If you believe yourselves to be so much bigger, and so much better, why do you work here protecting Halflings.

The first giant says matter of factly to Jaspurr, 'They pay good.' The second concurs: 'Yeah! Pay good.'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' so you take no pride or honor in this job? You just want the gold?

Both giants look to each other and nod furiously in agreement. The verbose one says to Jaspurr, 'Yeah, gold. Who cares about Halflings? We just want our gold.'

The second giant in the background fires off again at Jaspurr: 'Yeah! Gold!'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' you two have no honor, no pride, and are greedy.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I shall teach you a lesson, and perhaps show the Halflings how good of a job you can really do. Prepare for battle!

*A short fight ensues*

You fire from the Bone Bow of Anduin and hit a huge stone giant champion with a couple shots.

The sleep serum on sleepy arrows causes a huge stone giant champion to fall alseep.

You fire from the Bone Bow of Anduin and hit a huge stone giant champion with a couple shots.

The sleep serum on sleepy arrows causes a huge stone giant champion to fall alseep.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' what a fabulous job they did.

You chuckle politely.

Approaching a Small Hamlet

[Exits: north south west]

(Charmed) A large, menacing wyvern perches here.

(Charmed) A displacer beast snarls here.

(White Aura) a huge stone giant champion is sleeping here.

(White Aura) a huge stone giant champion is sleeping here.

You pat a large wyvern on its head.

Jaspurr looks towards his pets and says to them as if they might respond, 'Come. Let's look about the Hamlet and see if what Soido says is true. Let us see if the Hobbits are all truly lazy and weak.'

You mount upon the back of a large wyvern.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' ya!

*walking*

Before the Inner Sanctum

[Exits: north east]

A mercenary guard is patrolling around the hamlet here, maintaining the peace.

(White Aura) An old woman wanders about here, murmuring something.

Someone walks in.

A large wyvern flies in.

Well-armored and well-trained, this hired guard is a human. He is large

as humans go and looks to be very interested in earning his paycheck. His

face is a bit scarred and his blade a bit chipped, but he hasn't found any

reason care about either yet.

A mercenary guard is in excellent condition.

You tell your group 'All human guards.'

You tell your group 'Let us see if there is a halfling guard about.'

*Walking*

A Poorly Cobbled Street

[Exits: north east south west]

A mercenary guard is patrolling around the hamlet here, maintaining the peace.

You tell your group 'Another human.'

A Halfling Home

[Exits: east]

A halfling is here, a local member of this village.

A large wyvern flies in.

Someone walks in.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' greetings.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' My name is Jaspurr of the RunAmok. What is your name?

The Halfling jumps up with excitement and exclaims 'Jaspurr! Jaspurr the Relentless, Undaunted of War in my home! Wow!'

The Halfling goes around the room parading proudly. He looks to Jaspurr and says, 'Oh, how rude of me! I'm Merrory!'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' well met.

You shake his hand.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I am coming to look around at the Halflings of the village. Soido, the old Ranger who lives just south of here says that the Halflings are all too lazy and playful.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' He says that you all rely on outsiders to act as mercenaries.

Merrory responds to Jaspurr, 'Yes, sir, that's right. Well, there are a couple of Halflings that try to help protect us. There's old Sagrin who mans the watchertower. He's quite old.'

Merrory responds to Jaspurr, 'And there's a group who wanted to help protect us, but they were ordered to protect the Sea. They work out of a boat, but none are great sailors.'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' quite a shame.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' Do you feel content with the guard here?

Looking at Jaspurr, Merrory shrugs. 'I s'pose. They do well enough. Not too friendly, but they usually keep trouble out of the streets.'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' They work for much gold?

Looking at Jaspurr, Merrory shrugs. 'I s'pose. We all gotta chip in a little to help pay for their services.'

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' Why not simply guard the Hamlet yourselves?

Looking at Jaspurr, Merrory shrugs.

Merrory responds to Jaspurr, ' I guess cause we'd rather just relax than fight. We can't all be like you Jaspurr!'

You nod.

Jaspurr utters in a soft, matter-of-fact tone, ' I do thank you for speaking with me.

Merrory responds to Jaspurr, 'Come by any time! Maybe show me some moves some time.'

Jaspurr smiles weakly.

*Walking*

You tell your group 'Young child, playing.'

A Trail through the Hills

[Exits: north east west]

(Charmed) A displacer beast snarls here.

(Charmed) A large, menacing wyvern perches here.

A young halfling is playing here.

*More walking, looking at all the Halflings*

Jaspurr smiles weakly.

This rather light halfling must supervise the area. She wears a

nondescript gray tunic and cowl and she also has a rather plain face. It

would be quite easy for her to disappear into a crowd. The only striking

thing about her is her nearly absolute command of her establishment and the

unusual loyalty of her workers.

A modest halfling is in excellent condition.

You tell your group 'A shopkeep lounging.'

*Walking, looking for Halflings to examine.*

You tell your group 'Human guard; child playing; overweight Hobbit playing.'

You tell your group 'He's a grown Halfling, playing with a sparkler!'

You shake your head in dismay.

*Looking for more Hobbits to potentially join this new militia*

A Festival Circle

[Exits: east south]

A halfling is here, a local member of this village.

A large wyvern flies in.

A displacer beast walks in.

This halfling is enjoying life in the hamlet. Caring about little more

than seeing through to the next meal, halflings are renowned for their

carefree nature. With hairy feet, somewhat dirty clothes, and an easy

smile, this villager is the image of the idyllic country live.

A halfling villager is in excellent condition.

You tell your group 'This one at least moves about. Perhaps he would be interested in bettering himself."'

*Walking around*

A half-elf of some years, this man is a recognized grandmaster of bladed

combat. He instructs with neither prejudice nor bias, running his own

little perfect meritocracy. Not only being an accomplished combatant, he is

also an excellent administrator. As a result, this school is among the best

in the known world.

The resident grandmaster is in excellent condition.

Jaspurr smiles weakly.

You tell your group 'Ahh, excellent, the grand master of the school.'

You bow deeply.

Within the Bamboo Hall

[Exits: south]

(Charmed) A displacer beast snarls here.

(Charmed) A large, menacing wyvern perches here.

The resident grandmaster of bladed combat is waiting here.

*Walking*

Crystalmir Sea

[Exits: east south west]

A medium-sized ship is sailing here, patrolling Crystalmir sea.

A large wyvern flies in.

A displacer beast floats in.

A patrol ship peers at you searchingly as you walk past.

A patrol ship says 'Welcome to the Halfling Hamlet! Do me a favor and don't cause any trouble, Jaspurr.'

Manned by halfling militia archers, this medium-sized ship is patrolling

Crystalmir sea, looking for lost fishermen and danger. It is a short, wide

craft, suitable for the relatively calm waters of this area. The men don't

look exactly seaworthy however.

You tell your group 'It is true. These halflings in the ship do not seem seaworthy. Why were they assigned this job?'

*More walking seeking potential militia candidates*

A Rowdy Bar

[Exits: west up]

A young halfling is playing here.

A thirsty stone giant is here, sipping a large keg.

A gruff dwarf is here, looking for a drinking game.

A pretty young bartender swiftly serves her customers here.

A large wyvern flies in.

A displacer beast walks in.

You tell your group 'Ahh, the bar. Perhaps there shall be some fight-worthy Halflings here.'

Jaspurr smiles weakly.

Above the Bar

[Exits: north down]

A halfling gymnast is hanging from the ceiling here.

A displacer beast walks in.

A large wyvern flies in.

Hanging in the center of the loft, this halfling is obviously enjoying

her inverted position. She easily swings to and fro, seemingly light as

air. She is the only one practicing here and the reason for that is not

immediately clear. Her very existence is a testament to the legendary

agility of the halfling race, but she doesn't seem to notice.

Jaspurr smiles weakly.

You tell your group 'She appears to be quite fit, and she trains diligently. That is promising.'

A Practice Space

[Exits: south]

A short halfling rests here, thumping a drum rhythmically.

A large wyvern flies in.

A displacer beast walks in.

A Practice Space

[Exits: south]

(Charmed) A displacer beast snarls here.

(Charmed) A large, menacing wyvern perches here.

A short halfling rests here, thumping a drum rhythmically.

Off to one end of the practice area, a very short halfling stands out

among his peers. He is simply thumping a shallow, wide drum and bobbing his

head. This thumping is the very heart of this small practice room, giving

it the pulse it needs to survive and thrive. Having been entrusted with

such an important position, this halfling must be the leader of this band.

You tell your group 'A drummer. I am not much of a music fan, but his skills are good. He must be dedicated to his cause. Another good sign.'

You tell your group 'Perhaps he can learn to play the Drums of War.'

*Scouting potential recruits*

A Light Watchtower

[Exits: down]

A mercenary guard is patrolling around the hamlet here, maintaining the peace.

An aging halfling scout is here, squinting into the distance.

A displacer beast walks in.

A large wyvern flies in.

This decrepit old halfling absolutely refuses to retire. He has

steadfastly held his post for more than a century. Due to his age, his eyes

have long since failed him. This doesn't seem to deter him in his role as a

watchtower archer in the least. He occasionally makes a pretense of

scanning the area while spending most of his time humming repetitive songs

and telling stories that don't have any sense to them.

Jaspurr smiles weakly.

You tell your group 'Ahh, the old guardsman I was told about.'

You tell your group 'I do not know if he is still fit to do this job.'

You tell your group 'I think this Hamlet should break this reliance on a Mercenary Guard.'

You tell your group 'Many young children who can be trained.'

You tell your group 'A few halflings with great spirit and great physiques. It can be done.'

You tell your group 'I will need to enlist the help of the Grandmaster of the Melee School.'

You ponder the question.

You tell your group 'First I should learn more about the guard.'

*Goes around and simply examines and sizes up the various mercenaries in the Hamlet, including the Dwarven Lieutenant and the Ogre Captain. Then extis the Hamlet*

You tell your group 'It will take much to inspire the many complacent halflings. Perhaps if I still held my Spear of Courage, Katapangan, the Spear of the Lionheart, I might have a better time convincing them.'

You tell your group 'It will take much, but I must be relentless.'

You nod.
