New Cabal idea.

I just wanted to throw an idea out here to see if anybody would be interested.

Cabal - The Continuum Empire

Feeder clan - The Cult Clan

Location - underneath Falen Dara via Chapel someplace like that.

Subcabal the Eternals and Relentless

requirements undead, vampire, lich

vendetta with Knights and Watchers.

Not sure how I would interpret the cabal skills or armies stuff since I'm still learning my way around here but I would imagine the Eternals would be more spellcaster orientated and relentless warrior like.

I think Undead are already part of a clan, right? Or is it just the Continuum thing?

Nah not a clan.  Linked in some weird rp ways.

A cabal seems like a little much.

We have a couple new cabal idea on imm only, actually, that have been there for years. The problem is always the same - there simply aren't enough people to justify an entire new group. Especially when we have poor Herald that sits empty.

The counter was 'well, give them the choice', which is fair - but that's now games are made. Balance has to be considered, and a whole new organization would have staggering consequences.

What about a seasonal cabal? Something that is only around every sound often? RP could be linked to the moons or something.

What Volgathras says makes more sense but still It would be nice to have another alternative evil cabal to join that isn't chaos. That and there are some things already in-game that feel like there should be organization for certain undead qclass/qrace things.

I'm not in any way suggesting that this game is stale because of all the changes but every change, every new mystery to solve is good for growth. A more diverse group of cabals couldn't hurt in my opinion.

I think this might give Watcher another reason to stay empty. :(

With a small PB you'd have to lower the number allowed in each Cabal  if new ones were released.  That way you wouldn't get 1 or 2 in every Cabal and 7 in another.  Personally I think that before we even consider adding new ones why not just ask why the ones we have now are empty.  Do they need better RP behind them or better benefits?  Maybe we could instead come up with new sub cabals for the ones we already have, idk.  Before we do all of this though we should revamp Healers imo. (had to throw that in)  Oh and you can't compare Herald to the rest of them, by it's nature it'll be empty or close always unless something changes with it.  Personally I'd like to see Merchant get crafting abilities for singular pieces of armor using materials like bards as a change, or a super expensive ability with a huge wait time where they can summon pieces of armor/weapons that exist in the lands so they can sell it.

That would be cool, maybe the merchants can specialize like blacksmithing or alchemy

Cabals allowing fewer members is a very interesting idea. Cut in half to 5...wonder what that would look like.

No, we've tried this idea very recently IIRC. What a disaster. You do not "force" people to other cabals by not allowing them to play what they want. You make that which they don't want to play more desirable. Example: Ninjas.

In the old days getting Caballed was not a given. Now of course people roll combos for specific cabals knowing they will get it.

I agree in principle with you foxx you should not force people to play what they dont want but I think there is wiggle room here.

If you really wanna play a drow shaman for example and you wanted to be syndicate but they are full, you could still join nexus or savant for example.

Or even be an independant bounty hunter competing with Syndicate, or find a member you think is weak and try to destroy them and take their place by making a deal with Anume.

There are many ways it could play out without forcing people into combos they dont wanna play.

I just think that with such a small pbase allowing 10 per cabal might not make sense anymore.

People, we made this experiment half a year ago. Such short memories.

It did not work out well.

So we reverted.

We won't do the exact same again half a year later expecting a different result.

Here are few facts:

  1. People have short memory

  2. People don't know what's good for them (and the game)

I'm lost, what experiment are you talking about?

We lowered the cabal numbers from 10 to 5 + Imm.

Ah, I wasn't here for that one i suppose.

Neither was I, what happened to get it reverted back?

You roll something, aim for a cabal, but by the time you hit 50 it is full.  Then comes the "omg hes just campin in the cabal slot" complaints.
