  A narrow trail needs northward, branching off from the slightly more worn
path.  This one looks as if someone not very skilled has tried to shape a
new path, mostly by pulling bigger boulders aside or simply blasting them,
leaving behind blackened debris.  Small footprints, too small for a grown
man lead back and forth over the path, around it and all over the
surrounding area.

A Huge Pentagram
  A huge circle has been cleaned of any surrounding debris quite
effectively.  The ground looks absolutely smooth, as if polished.  Closer
inspection reveals that it consists of smooth black glass, shimmering
softly.  There is no dust, nor any other dirt or debris.  In the middle of
the circle, a pentagram burns in eternal magical fire:

An almost perfectly aligned five-pointed star is burned into the floor, it
pulsates a fiery red hue and at it's center in an ominous looking skull,
it's almost as if it's waiting for someone or something.

Climbing the Main Chain
  As you begin to hoist yourself up you find convenient hand holds and even
small maintenance platforms on which to climb.  In the distance above you
the tower casts it shadow.  A soundless pressure mounts as you approach the
bottom of the tower.  Thrumming of such a low nature you feel it more so
than hear it.  The chains continue upward through some low hanging clouds. 
Creaking and popping sounds fill the air around you as the massive chain
shifts and strains from the effort of anchoring the structure above.

Continuing the Climb
  You continue your climb up the chains.  Though the path upward is
precarious the goblins have left a series of platforms and secondary chains
to reinforce the main.  These must be used for some kind of ongoing
maintenance.  Smaller platforms hang from the tower on either side, as well
as the guide chains that inevitably join the main anchor on the ground
below.  The thrumming coming from the tower grows in intensity as you near. 
Making your teeth vibrate in your head.

and you have to strain your eyes just to make it out.  The peaceful path
seems to lead into the mountain range that is ahead of you.  Behind you 
the plume of the volcano can be made out.

A small Branch-Off
  A narrow trail needs northward, branching off from the slightly more worn
path.  This one looks as if someone not very skilled has tried to shape a
new path, mostly by pulling bigger boulders aside or simply blasting them,
leaving behind blackened debris.  Small footprints, too small for a grown
man lead back and forth over the path, around it and all over the
surrounding area.

A Huge Pentagram
  A huge circle has been cleaned of any surrounding debris quite
effectively.  The ground looks absolutely smooth, as if polished.  Closer
inspection reveals that it consists of smooth black glass, shimmering
softly.  There is no dust, nor any other dirt or debris.  In the middle of
the circle, a pentagram burns in eternal magical fire:

An almost perfectly aligned five-pointed star is burned into the floor, it
pulsates a fiery red hue and at it's center in an ominous looking skull,
it's almost as if it's waiting for someone or something.

Climbing the Main Chain
  As you begin to hoist yourself up you find convenient hand holds and even
small maintenance platforms on which to climb.  In the distance above you
the tower casts it shadow.  A soundless pressure mounts as you approach the
bottom of the tower.  Thrumming of such a low nature you feel it more so
than hear it.  The chains continue upward through some low hanging clouds. 
Creaking and popping sounds fill the air around you as the massive chain
shifts and strains from the effort of anchoring the structure above.

Continuing the Climb
  You continue your climb up the chains.  Though the path upward is
precarious the goblins have left a series of platforms and secondary chains
to reinforce the main.  These must be used for some kind of ongoing
maintenance.  Smaller platforms hang from the tower on either side, as well
as the guide chains that inevitably join the main anchor on the ground
below.  The thrumming coming from the tower grows in intensity as you near. 
Making your teeth vibrate in your head.

Beneath the Tower's Base
  As you continue to climb the air grows chilly.  The Swaying is more
evident here as the tower seems to drift ever so slightly as it hovers. 
Near the top a series of chains and platforms leads to the front of the
tower.  A barrier glows slightly above you, the occasional temporal
disturbance lashing out from its surface.  The sound here begins to subside
as you move towards the front of the tower.  Though a great force can still
be felt torturing the air about you, pulling and pushing time itself.

The Upper Platform
  You pass through the tower's barrier unharmed and find yourself standing
upon a large platform.  The platform itself creaks and pops as the tower
lazily drifts at the end of its tether.  Beneath you the chains descend to
the ground far below.  The powerful thrumming sound is absent here, as you
are shielded by the tower's mass, and the odd glowing barrier.  The platform
is made of random sheets of metal.  The Goblins have left crates and
assorted tools scattered about.  Above your head giant balloons are visible
held fast to the tower by what must be hundreds of ropes and chains.  Some
are even tied off directly to the platform itself.  Tiny figures can be seen
climbing all over the tower's exterior.  Goblins hard at work making sure
everything is secure.  

An almost perfectly aligned five-pointed star is burned into the floor, it
pulsates an icy blue glow and a crackling energy field can be seen sizzling
above your head.  In the middle of the Pentagram is a summoning altar made
of jet-black obsidian.

Before the Savant Cabal
  The stink is terrible.  Trying to phase out the assault on your nostrils
you stand in awe at the glowing tower before you.  The unknown material or
metal below your feet hums and vibrates as strange powers of unknown and
potent origins rush underneath your feet.  The ground and walls seem to have
repelled the stinking waste and debris all around the base of the tower and
look pristine.

closed, defiant of intrusion to the last.  The crumbling wall around it,
however, provides relatively easy passage in and out of the city.  At the
foot of the gate several pieces of broken and dented armor house the charred
remains of what can be assumed were once a small host of drow.  The crest of
Xymerria can be made out under the scratches and blackening of the armor.

Seemingly a haven to this deserted place.  Intricate mosaics of stone outlay
the cavern floor, Illuminated by glowing fungus far above your head.  The
cavern branches into a tunnel, a much smaller counterpart of this
monstrosity.

The last few logs have prominently featured reflective field, so I wanted to share something different. Also of note, I still have zero avatar levels in this fight.

I'm guessing the reason for running back to the Northern Passage was to put the drain on my moves, as battlemages are already move hungry and shamans can easily capitalize on that. Really smart strategy, it just didn't work out in this case.

Good fights, Shaka. I'm sure I will be doing the Shaka dance soon enough.
