Why it was removed, I don't understand because clearly this was a close fight. That doesn't mean I didn't have more decisive wins than this - I did. But for those who knew how to fight. This is what the fights looked like. Yes, I had another paladin named Elska some months ago. I guess it was a lack of imagination from my side as it was the first of my "come back" characters, beeing away for nearly twenty years from the game. I didn't know/think it would get serious again. But it did. And here I am. The backdrop is that Morticant caught me before this and only took a bracelet and gold from his win. Some trash talk was going on back and forth and we decided to dish it out again. The place was agreed upon north of Rheydin (the town that now is Maelbrim) near Mahn-Tor. I arrive first to try to seperate Morticant from his trition watchman that were the dark-knight charmie of choice back then. A good choice since there were no glimmering staffs to grant sanctuary to your charmies back then and the triton already had a permanent santuary. We can spot so many things we would do diferent, with the weight of 15+ years of experience. But then, when ppl didn't master h2h and I pked without sanctuary as a Paladin, this is top skill. Regarding Monted charge, it does about the same damage then and now. Perhaps you charged someone recently with the stout perk which cuts damage by like half. You can still flee charge, in fact I use this tactic a lot. Perhaps you charged someone with the galewind mittens or a Watcher with physical resist access? Link to comment

And you clearly know because the text "Saddled atop the Goliath, you charge xxxx at full speed!" isn't there the times it does "normal damage" and it has nothing to do with charging a stout perk or any other with resistance. I've tried it many times even on blinded mobs. Now, If you're saying it shouldn't be like that and that it's probably glitch that noone has ever reported. If you note the timing between your charges (a little more difficult since you don't have the hour in your prompt), it is reasonable to assume that there is a tick between each of those charges, which is enough time for the "charge" debuff to fall off and allow you to hit for both full damage and lag. The only question here is whether there was a change sometime between 2002-2006 where the range was added to the debuff timer (taking it from a 0 hour timer always, to a 0-2 hour random timer). That said, all of the material that supports this PK log is present in the 2006 source code and, to the best of my knowledge, the ONLY change that has been made to charge since that time was to add the counter-damage for Lich bone wall and Druid shield of thorns. A paladin with mastered mounted combat can expect to do between 175-225 damage on the first charge ("Saddled atop" message) and 100-150 damage (like anyone else) for subsequent charges, while the charge affect is still active on their opponent. I'm pretty sure each charge did not add to the lag time, but the damage was always there. As I wrote in my opening statement: Many fights I fought then, were close and I also lost quite a few. Then of course, some wins were definatly decisive, using this strategy. Now, I know paladins are not supposed to fight neutral characters, but in those days you certainly found yourself in battle with those characters aswell. At lower ranks, you could win using flamestrike and cure critical, but at top rank, I was glad I could charge the way I could as wrath did absolutly nothing for my chances of winning. And please keep in mind that I would never even use charge against someone who could counter. Link to comment
