However I figured since some people were asking for it I would post it myself so that everyone could see it and judge for themselves. But I have heard everything from me cheating to, using sanc half way through the fight, and spamming -spells-, so just to set the record straight here is the log. The point of contention seems to be whether or not "much magical advantage" meant no spells period or what. No sanc vs no sanc is a given I would think when fighting a WM Inductee, so that just leaves the entered T-storm casts. Link to comment

Faurnin said he would forgo magical advantages and then went on to use certain magical advantages. Both cabal powers and thunderstorm. He didn't use sanctuary, I honestly thought he did, but the log shows he didn't. I will say I prolly mixed it up in the heat of the fight when I saw this: Quote A Mountain Trail You stand on a narrow trail, bulky bushes guiding you on the path. The trail becomes steep with every step you take. The dwindling hills and rocky terrain make it difficult to find decent footing. [Exits: east west] A mineral vein has broken the surface. (Bright Aura) Faurnin the Murderer of Baby Trolls is here. (Charmed) (White Aura) Faurnin's Demon Hunter stands here. A large mammoth climbs in. A large spotted leopard climbs in. A huge scaled behemoth climbs in. At quick glance, its easily mixed up. Standard combat etiquette for the last 20 years has been that if you are in a friendly challenge against a Warmaster inductee, neither of you use sanctuary. That's it. A battle between a Werebeast beastmaster ranger and a halfling archer ranger with nothing but dirt and insect swarm at their disposal is not a competitive battle. The werebeast will win every time. No need to actually even fight if those are the rules being laid out. Just my $.02 -- now, proceed. I do enjoy watching all the salt that Faurnin continues to wring from the crowd, over a year later. 🤓 Link to comment

In the old day, or maybe from the previous mud Warmasters/Warlords were strictly forbidden to use magic, but had their skills to balance the fights. At Member, Gladiators get stance or you can select Barbarian (which Akhaarit later did, if I recall) and use sanctuary as normal. But in this log, Akhaarit is an inductee. But generally speaking, the inductee rank has typically involved friendly duels, and it's commonly agreed upon (but not always) that the non-Warmaster party won't use sanctuary in order to level the playing field a bit. The common battle etiquette -- not required, but quite commonplace -- is that the Paladin would not use sanctuary as a concession to the Warmaster's limitations. This concession has not (commonly, at least) included any other spells -- including cure critical, flamestrike, etc. Note that this etiquette also only typically goes for "friendly" duels to the stun. It has never applied to Savant vs Warmaster cabal warfare, for example, wherein the Savant is expected to ruthlessly magic the Warmaster Inductee's guts out. This is not a rule, mind, nor is it even frowned upon to decline to make that concession. It is simply a bit of etiquette that players adopted and has stuck with folks for a long time. If he meant just no sanc but all else is fair game then that's one thing, but he didn't say that and that's what lead to all of this confusion. Had I know thunderstorm was still a concern, I would not have fought out in the open. I don't think the werebeast will win every time. In fact, I think the archer has the better chance between the two considering he was doing massacres with his shots, but didn't maintain distance to keep plinking away. As I said yesterday in the Discord and which was received by people saying "yeah that makes sense" is that because both are rangers, they both would lose the same spells. Link to comment
