I have an idea. When you have the advantage in PK and are winning or always win TRY to not sac everything your opponent has or needs.
#1. No one can fight you a second time when you sac all their weapons or equipment. Not like your going to give your enemy a chance to get it back.
#2. Takes all the fun out of the game when you log on to RP and have fun, maybe a PK, and you cannot even stay on because "this person" constantly kills you and sacs all your stuff.
So honestly, if you think about it... cabal warfare would be better if you did not rid your opponent of their things. At least they would be able to come back into the warfare. Just a thought.
I must say I - personally - agree with this notion, if it is solely bc it is more likely they come back for another try. No fun if they just log off and you sit around twiddling your thumbs after all.
It shies alot of new players away because its not as easy for them to re gear as it is for veteran players. I dont loot for that reason, I love love love the new players I see popping up. Lets keep em around awhile eh?
It would also help if said "lootee" RP'd a bit more other than, "Spit spit, I hate you, you suck, spit spit, wait till I fight you again."
Especially if the looter (the one who apparently wins all the PKs) gives them every chance to take back their initial banter after their first death or second, or third, or fourth.
For instance: If someone spits/talks a bunch of **** @ me after I kill them, I give them every chance to retract it until they fight me again. At this point, I take all of their weapons, and any equipment that would be useful against fighting me.
If I know it to be a true newbie, I'll do my best not to be so harsh, but in most cases, just by how someone acts and says certain things, I know them not to be a newbie, and deal to them whats been dealt to me since the beginning of my play career.
Some of the greatest joy i've experienced here has been full looting my greatest enemies or characters that rub me the wrong way.
I won't complain to you IC or OOC when I get full-looted, and an IC or OOC complaint when full-looted will mean I take greater pleasure full-looting or saccing you next time.
That said, I generally won't do it unless I have an in-game vendetta against a character or have trouble fighting them.
If the character is a noob, I definitely won't do it, unless they gang me or have annoying RP.
And we wonder why there is such a small player base and why certain people can play all day and others cannot.
Example: I log on and so does an enemy. We are both equally equipped. I lose, he full loots and sacs. I cannot stay to fight them. I have 0 defense, 0 armor, 0 weapons. And if we are caballed you just sit on the standard waiting for me to come, and if I dont come. You look for me finding equipment and sac it all over again.
No one wants to play the game to just equip. If you lose, you lose. Its a game. Shouldnt need to sacrifice items that you do not** need. People take the game too seriously with having to win so badly that you must sacrifice ones things and ruin the game for them. It is literally like saying, I dont want so and so to play today. I'm just going to kill him and full sac him everytime that way he cant play. Fun, fun. And I know a few new players are here and I've seen them get full looted.**
...and if I dont come. You look for me finding equipment and sac it all over again.
I don't understand what that means. If you see your enemy coming, you run away. He has your standard? So what. You see him coming, you know he will pwn your face, then run.
There is life insurance, there is smurf tier, there is cabal outfit... I am not saying I agree with full looting, but if you are not utilizing those tools, then it's entirely your own problem.
If you repeatedly shoot yourself when unequipped against much stronger opponent, then that is your problem again. When you try to retrieve your standard over and over and over and it isn't working, then change the plan. Don't be linear...
What most people overlook is also in a 1 vs 1 scenario, if the guy is not hugging his cabal bc he is hunting you, you can easily lead him around a bit, then beeline to his cabal and be gone again before he shows up cursing.
Wasn't 'Moderate' made because of this?
I don't think I've seen OR heard of any "obvious" newbies being full looted lately. I don't full loot, regardless of what people say.
Nowadays, full looting = 3 rares, whether they be the best rares they have, or miniscule ones. Full looting might also mean that a specific weapon was taken because its annoying to fight against - low and behold, you get a spew of tells saying, "You full looted me?!" or "Where's my weapon?!"
Why shouldn't I take what I want, especially if its a weapon specifically tailored to kill/make my character's life hell? I don't get why people continually make some sort of case out of three or four things taken, especially when it could have been avoided through other venues in game: IE: Roleplaying!
I assume we'll be seeing more of these threads if we don't stop looting a damned thing altogether, people! Look out!

Exactly.
If things are so hard for you, I am sure the immortals could turn you into smurf. I somewhat have a feeling it's more of an attitude problem though...
From an RP perspective, full-looting is consistent. Your enemy is dead.
Letting full-loots get to you just emphasize your focus on equipment.
Equipment is not needed to enjoy the game, and it is the victim of the full loot, rather than the full-looter, that needs to re-focus their RP and not be so concerned about what they wear or if they die.
I used to let it get to me. Its part of the game... one of the best parts of the game. Play to play... and don't get so invested that you get mad from a text based old school video game.
I wonder if the NPC's in Winter pray about being full looted all the time.
(Yeah dumb joke, but I made myself giggle)
I've never read anything like this thread before. It's amazing, insightful, and refreshing. I'll toss some in, too.
If you took 2 or 3 rares, don't forget to count the 2 that crumble on death.
You can't tell if the person is or is not a newb to this mud, only to PK. The flow of information available outside the game and inside the game has uplifted the position newbs start from now. Saying you can tell is that you have an educated assumption and we all know what it does to assume.
Some people get upset when they die. Any RP that comes after death will have to come from a submissive position or risks dying at the hands of the victor again which means at least another 2 rares crumbling. Seeing this stack up towards a full loot by death/game mechanism, yet? I'm not playing this game to appease someone else's ego, I'm playing to have fun. Hindering ability to compete through quick loss of equipment is not fun.
Of course, this all goes into a RP aspect, too, as Mali has pointed out. However, every single person here metagames (don't lie, I don't like it) in one way or another. Whether you're sparing a newb, fighting a moderate (you know they're a moderate), examining fighting tactics and wondering if you can connect the character to a forum tag (some people want to for some reason), or farming gold/consumables (knowing when they'll reappear, not if, when), you are metagaming.
I rest my case.
I would have to agree. When I make a kill, I only loot gold or MAYBE one item. I have gotten used to getting full sac'ed tho, being an undead and not having a corpse makes it VERY easy. I'd have to say a LOT of the knights have been very classy so far, leaving behind most of my things, aside from one, who has full sac'ed me every time he's gotten me so far. I don't get mad though, I just go pry a few basics, and start PKing again. It is what it is, and being a thief, let alone an undead one, I fully expected the Knights to full loot me every time, but to my surprise, only one has. Stay classy Knights, Stay classy.

I like this guy. He's the epitome of positive.
Three things to remember here for the newer player:
-
Moderate tier
-
"Outfit" command for players who are part of a cabal
-
Storage lockers
Use these things to help you get back on your feet fast.
