I don't know if this is in the code for the Moderates, but perhaps they should have twice the lives compared to a Ruthless character? If new players are playing them then they should be able to live twice as long so they can get more of an idea of what their class is capable of. I know that most people don't even play the full 60 they get as a normal character, but a newer player might stick it out for even more and I think it'd be good for them to be able to pinn and die often rather than hit just before pinn and find out their character is no longer alive due to the fact that they condeathed.
Locked Moderate/Ruthless
So then what happens when we get veterans like the one who played Kadrinath?
The same thing as Kadrinath, I'd imagine, they get bumped to ruthless.
I don't know who Kadrinath is anyways. But yes that would work as well. Not to mention that an Imm could always go in and change his lives to an appropriate number. So if they've died 60 times already if they were to be changed to Ruthless, rather than having 60 left they'd have 30 now. Depending on what they're doing though, they could always make it their last life too.
Unnecessary. New players usually do not condeath anyway (few people do), and if they need more lives we usually give them some.
To clarify Kadrinath had to apply for ruthless. I went moderate cause my first ranger sucked and I wanted to have a chance to learn them without constantly having to re-equip. Turns out I just sucked with ogre rangers so after a bit of PK at fifty and realizing the difference I sent in an application to be turned Ruthless.
Just to clarify to anyone searching this post, you can't be changed from moderate to ruthless anymore as I recently found out.
So if you think you'll eventually want to be ruthless, don't count on being able to get changed!
Tantangel - no, your healer cannot have more lives. ![]()
Even if you are a cute little smurf. ![]()

Until I hear it from an IMM, I do not believe the first part of your post.
However, one should not make a moderate with the expectation that you will eventually change to ruthless. That is not and has never been the point of the moderate tier - it is not there to give you an easy time before you get to a certain point of power, it is there to give people who are less skilled at PK, either overall or simply with their current combo, or who prefer to focus more on RP over PK and don't want to have to worry as much about deaths a path that is less punishing when it comes to PK.
If you think you'll want to be ruthless, make a ruthless. Don't make a moderate expecting you'll be turned ruthless when it becomes convenient for you.
There has been only one example I can remember where a moderate was turned into ruthless and that was Kadrinath.
You can't and you SHOULDN'T be turned ruthless via application, because that's abusable. Take DKN malforms for example - seems like a safe way of leveling malforms.
If you want to play ruthless, then choose it at creation.
first adventurers, then 'moderate' pk? what's up with you guys? ![]()
first adventurers' date=' then 'moderate' pk? what's up with you guys?

Real men play moderate adventurers!!! I see the moderate tier as the tier when you might not have all the time in the world to risk it all. It is like playing limit poker vs no limit. There is skill in both and both are fun.
me sighs.
been burning myself in EVE past few years as it used to be "whatever you bring, you might lose". seems there's been an increase in risk averseness in both games though. consider me a sad panda :'-(
PS:
You lost your concentration.
You have become better at armor!

Moderates are restricted in the gear they can carry (Rare limit) So yes, I want the guy in his adeptus armor coming back at me, since he is now wielding sharp katana's and fiery daggers.
