Well' date=' there's a point where mechanics ruin the fun...and it's starting to get to that point for me.[/quote']
You know what pisses me off? When I miss dirt 3 times in a row, it lands on the fourth time and next round the tick passes. Man that just drives me off! Lets "fix" that ****.
Let's fix sheath doublesheath.

I agree with those who think there should be some sort of change.
I think doublesheath should really be just that. I would like to see
the draw and sheath commands have an optional suffix like 1, 1a,
1b, 2, 2a, and 2b to give full control of drawing and sheathing. I
would also like to see a toggleable autodraw command so that being
blind and disarmed, for instance, does not mess up your sheathing
arrangement. I think anytime a weapon is sheathed you should be
able to use the corresponding hand. I see no balance issues with
someone turning off autodraw, sheathing their weapons in combat
and using a wand or stave while fighting.
Like Pali I even considered the whole cursed weapon being sheathed
concept too, though I think for balance it must remain as is.
I think anyone who has had to deal with this situation will agree it is cumbersome and only detracts from the PK aspect of the game.
It's like melees who have the wands/staves skill are being punished for using two weapons (which is a main part of a melee arsenal). Meanwhile, C/C's can take full advantage of the skill simply because they can't dual wield. However, they can use a shield with the other hand and still use the skill (yes, I realize melees can also do this).
If it was completely balanced to the point that holding a shield also made you have to remove either the shield or weapon to use wand/stave, I wouldn't mind because that would give equal opportunity vs C/C's who don't have easy access to sanc/flight/whatever.
Right now it's broken...and several people in this thread recognize it as such.
Am I the only one that thinks the tag 'cursed' should actually carry some negative affects? Uhh...kinda like it being a pain in the ***? Kinda like you guys are talking about?
If you want ease in zapping/brandishing in and out of combat, don't wield 2 cursed weapons. To be honest, you really don't need 2 cursed weapons. Who off-hand disarms anymore anyway?
Since everyone has macros anyway the curse factor is hardly the issue. The problem is that sheathing your weapon is not enough to free your hand. Even if I have two regular weapons I should be able to sheath them and hold something.
Again the imbalance being that a cleric can have a cursed shield and weapon and easily sheath/zap. Why are dual wielders being punished?

I agree, however with the particular class I'm playing, I don't have a choice unless I want to weaken myself by using a lesser weapon. The down-side to the class should be the other upkeeps...not some mechanic that is broken for dual wield but works fine for shield + single weapon.
If that change is added, then certain classes can now carry MORE rares. Sheath, hold.
As it is, C/C's can do the very same thing if they have a rare shield + rare weapon.
melee's get dodge, a caster/communer would have -zero- defenses. Melee's always have 1 defense.
That's a valid point.
However, C/C's also typically can't be lagged. And if you're lucky enough to catch one not flying...well, that's just as lucky as any trip-class catching any other opponent not flying.
There are so many arguments and counter-arguments. I could defend this til every single last one. I'm pretty sure I've thought this out extensively.
Edit: To reorient my initials post, this wasn't meant to be a Melee vs. C/C complaint. As it is currently, a huge part of the pbase is melee. Therefore, this is coming first and foremost from a melee vs. melee aspect. As my current class, I would love to give up wands/staves for any other of the skills other melees get and just rely on smoking herbs.
Jeezus, so much QQ about something so little... especially when you've got alternatives.
+1 Foxx.
I actually angree with this. If one can take the time to smoke something in battle, on who is a master in melee even, then out of battle they should be able to sheath their weapons - freeing their hands - and use an item. C/C's have this luxury and they don't even have an RP reason for it, see weapon/shield combo. And sure, you may say they have alternatives and it isn't a big deal but.. Who are you to dictate how someone plays the game? ..then again there isn't hardly anything implemented into this game because of logic based on possibilities.. It's pretty much a pk-balanced environment. That being said, I don't see how this affects the balance anyway.
Who are you to dictate how someone plays the game?
That's like saying - Who are you to dictate that I should kick dirt?
Noone is forcing you to use glimmering staves or ankhs. You can also smoke herbs, quaff vials, eat pils OR you can use a removable second weapon, a two handed weapon or a shield. Nowadays you can even buy VAST amounts of preserved herbs from merchants.
I am all for sensible changes and there are so many bugs out there that need the attention of the immortals, but trying to suggest a change, just because you are lazy and don't want to adapt seems extremely selfish to me.
Foxx is right. This has been proposed in the past. It's not going to change, nor should it.
Doh, everyone who agrees had better stop "complaining"...Lord Trick has spoken.
If anything, clerics with noremove shield + noremove weapon should be punished, since it makes them even more survivable.
Anyway, this is the reason I pretty much only used vials on my demon dk with dual malforms toward the end. Just saying. Guessing I won't get any sympathy though ![]()
