Integrated Paths (Berserker) 2.0

Humans are not underpowered at all. They just aren't specialized at all either.

That's debatable. I knew someone was going to say that.

I tend to remember a grand "human berserker" experiment showing otherwise. If they're selectable, shouldn't they be somewhat competitive?

I've seen humans of all classes rock this game. They are perfectly competitive. Their lack of built-in specialization just means you use EQ and trains to specialize them (i.e. if you're an invoker, you focus on upping mana).

Also keep in mind that part of what makes humans balanced is their lack of an exp penalty.

I agree we've seen that, but consider the player skill involved to make those successful. Just because it's happened, doesn't mean it's balanced.

You're telling me a drow\shaman is as balanced as a human\bers\warrior overall?

(Extremes, to be sure, but you get my point)

I would say that a drow shaman is as balanced as a human zerk/war. Advantage in con=additional health. Lack of vulnerability on both ends evens out. An experienced player playing both will have to use specific tactics, it then comes down to luck and who makes more mistakes.

Celerity, your a genius ... i'm actually convinced of that. This is a great idea, and I think this is the probably the most logical, and easy solution to the many glaring problems I have discovered in my time at FL. Replayability would be increased 100 fold with this system, No one character would ever be the same, unless it was intentional. This would make PK much more intensified, and less 'predictable' which I think is one of the many problems with FL. This would allow for multiple strategies in PK, and even improve group dynamic for quests, and those desolation/gear trips. 3 warriors? no problem.. each being a different breed of warrior in most cases. It would help to cull the huge powercombo gaming that FLers of the last few years have embraced. It would also help to improve skills which are almost useless as of now, which is huge. I have skills I don't even practice on almost every character, why do they even exist? I think this change would cause us all to rethink our strategies, and our ideas of what is a 'GOOD' combo. It would add a roleplay element.. I love it...if something like this were implemented, i'd probably be spending a bit more time in game, and I am sure this would attract a multitude of new users. Great work, and thanks for investing the huge amount of time that must have gone into this idea

I would happily say that an elf paladin is balanced against a human warrior.

What you're not taking into account are the exp penalties for the different races/classes. The elf paladin probably will win most fights against the human warrior, assuming both are at equal level, eq, and player skill (though if the human's neutral, that changes things a lot in his favor). However, when that elf paladin is level 42 and the human warrior is at level 50, the human warrior can come over and beat the crap out of that elf paladin because of the exp penalty difference. That's part of the balance of race/class combos... how hard they are to rank.

Can we not derail this thread please. If you want to make a post about if a certain combo / race is balanced start a thread for that. This person put alot of work into this and I'd hate to see it not get the proper attention, or derailed into a debate about something that doesn't encompass what the original post was about.

Sorry sorry, got carried away. I disagree with Pali on principle.

I know you're fairly new, Sandbox, but I'm kind of surprised that by now you haven't realized that EVERY thread gets derailed at some point.

If you ask me, anything new will be welcome. I would really love to see some drastic changes in the FL. What I really want to see is the qclass/races get more easily accesable. Would really love to play a vampire or a crusader in my FL life (not that I've tried geting one that much, hehe)

And that's your problem, not that they aren't accessible.

No immortal opinion on this idea yet? I'm probably not the only curious one out here.

Hump De Bump!!!

Aulian, you really need to finish that reply...

Alright alright, I'll do it later tonight...

I really need to sit down and read everything through again and give you my thoughts and opinions.

Bump.

I like this idea, and whilst I understand you want more feedback than this, you should probably realise now I can't explain things well. Therefore, I will leave any sort of detailed response for when I'm not bogged down, mentally.

Overall, I love how it puts a lot more focus on the class as opposed to the race, meaning that you'd be much more at ease playing a class as almost any race, as opposed to thinking "I don't want to play an X ranger because I could do it so much better as an Ogre".

We need to find Stryth and put it all back together again
