I think Psis were intended to be a remort option and true qclass for neutrals (goods)...
...and I strongly disagree with it.
The psi skills are fun, but as many people have said before, you never get to use them due to the unwieldy meditation system (which has been tweaked but..). Also psis are no-competition the worst class for taking down mobs...
Hypnosis and the item-flinging spell were what made them considered overpowered (or all rem all/then spam a spell that does unspeakables EVERY round)
...
I feel that the 'lesser' qraces/classes should be open at creation/rank 30(undead/psi/demons), the 'medium' ones available as an automatic remort (crusader/lich), and the 'greater' ones as an application (vamps/avatars).
(This is only if we can't open EVERYTHING at creation)
For PK balance, it shouldn't matter when to open them. Qraces/classes are perfectly balanced, right?
For RP, I never did understand why we have 'tiers' of enforced RP. EVERYBODY should be RPing to that level. Furthermore, has the application process ensured that people who DID make it were of a 'higher' quality than people who don't play qraces/classes? I think it hasn't encouraged a whole lot of RP (inspires people to RP at rank 30, yet also stifles many people who would otherwise attempt a qrace/class RP)
Personally, I have found that the standard undead/vamp/demon/avatar personalities are actually LESS innovative/interesting than what people make from normal combos. I'd say that nearly, if not ALL, the people who go through the annoying application process do it for pure PK reasons, which is the wrong reason to choose any race/class. It also suggests that there just might:eek: be an imbalance on the PK half...I would wager that much of the RP is 'fake' RP to get the reward and that the quality severely drops(or just stops developing) after the reward is given (never to an unsafe, punishing level--back to about what other people do usually)
...
all in all, it is an unwieldy system, takes a lot of time from players AND staff, and gives no real benefit...
...a lot like descriptions (why do we write these if we have biographies and equipment lists?)...
