Rangers should lose call lightning

I don't think rangers should get staves either. They are the only melee based (mostly non-casting) class that gets any of the staves/scrolls/wands bit.

Thieves, monks, ninjas........

There are two staves that I'm aware of that sanc pets. And both predate the arena.

Iyorvin, you've been here too long to be saying that thieves/ninjas are melees, or that monks fight like other melees.

Pffff Despiser outmelee'ed my everything. I had -str, dex, and int, by the time he was done with me .

Vylan.....

Yes, a super-decked ninja with the right cabal and ninjitsu choices is a melee monster. But calling ninjas a melee class is a mistake.

Don't DKs get wands or something?

They do, but dks are not melees, they are hybrids. Rangers are melees.

Well there's only four melees, not counting blademasters. So one gets staves and one gets scrolls.

Hmm...I'd consider a thief melee as much as I would a ranger. Explain the difference?

Thieves do not rely on melee to win. They rely on traps.

True, but I've also won fights as a ranger due to thunder storm. How can you call a class that uses no magic less of a melee class to one that has spells?

Once you know how Thunderstorm works, it's not that hard for someone to know who to use it against and win a PK fight using it. That doesn't go to say that just because a thief doesn't use any traps at all in PK and wins that he's a Melee type class either. Hybrid classes are usually classes that don't fit the full description of a melee or a mage. They don't exactly outright fight a lot of the times relying on more stealth than outright melee. Which makes you wonder why put Rangers in the category of melee then if they have camoflauge? Well, for one they have pets, upwards of three of them. Two, they have a lot of defenses (hybrid classes only have around 2-3 where as Ranger has everything but riposte). They have a fairly large weapons selection compared to hybrid classes. A ranger can output more damage than a Warrior can if you think about it. With three pets and having the ability to dual wield and third attack, that's six attacks for the ranger alone, and roughly 2+ for each pet. Warriors can only have 8 attacks excluding the first round when they're combined. At least that's kind of how I saw it.

Thieves rely entirely on stealth-based tactics to get their kills. They rely purely on having the first strike (preferably through a trap+bj combo), their ability to take enemy equipment, their ability to do massive damage on the opening strike, and their ability to keep the opponent in the fight indirectly through traps.

Thieves are rogues. Class types are usually melee, casters, communers, and rogues. A hybrid is some combination so paladins, dark-knights, arguably rangers.

Rangers are melee. Druids are hybrid.

I would say that rangers are a hybrid.

Heh I would have said druids are communers, but obviously there's some room for interpretation here.

Druids can be played to very different ways, either all out melee or a communer. If you try and find a balance between the two, you wont tap the classes potential

Druids are in the same class as healers and bards.
