I say the more races the merrier, and I dont think orc would be quite different from the other races we have so far. And based of how they are in various other worlds the rp would be pretty diverse. I also really like the idea of chosing a tribe, each would have its own pros and cons.
Orcs
I believe Viri said that ferals were meant to fill that 'neutral/evil' small sized race slot that was missing, sorta like a counter-halfling.
Not sure exactly where Orcs would be meant to fall under.
EDIT: I'll add some more of my personal thoughts.
I believe every single race, and every single class, should have their own unique 'niche' that they fall under, their own specialty, to a degree. Otherwise, as you increase 'diversity', you reduce the meaningfulness of each race. Diversity is good, but once you have 2-3 races that are, for the most part, just the same darn thing, it begets a simple question:
Was the time put in coding, testing, etc. etc., commensurate to the what is gotten out of it?
I'm not so sure that, without fulfilling a specific need/niche, it would be, at this time. But again, that's just my own 2c.
Thats true, ferals can be all the classes that were suggested for orcs except bard and berserker. Though I do think orcs would have less dex than a feral, more strength and con, maybe less int and about the same wis. They would certainly not get the same weaknesses or benefits that ferals get and orcs are not small in size, so maybe they would cover a new area not tey represented.
Orcs would be the anti-elf, problem is we already have drow and elves hating each other.
We could consider making sliths good and neutral, and orcs neutral and evil.
Why would adding orcs get rid of sliths? Evil sliths rock.
wouldn't the plural of slith be slith?
THE PLURAL OF UNDEAD IS UNDEAD (Yes, I am going to say that every time I get the chance.)
Generally if you want to start correcting peoples spelling, you should really make sure all your posts are clear of mistakes... Should we repost all of your posts corrected?

no, the slith one was asking on whether or not, the undead one is a deep inbred pet peeve, playing D&D with your uncle who's a nazi on just that one word for about 11 years reminds you of the dope slaps for saying undeads
My pet peeve is the situation above, where "inbred" and "uncle" are in a post, 7 words apart.

Could have been "inbred" and "Mom". :eek:
Actually, I believe that is how elves became orcs.
I love chayesh ![]()
Someone needs to research orcs.
Ogres are one of the four(or maybe five) kinds of things described by the word "orc" in many of its interperations.
I know this is an old post, I'm going through all the ideas. Most interresting forum to me.
I've always thought of orcs as an offshoot of ogres. I mean, they're both pretty much large, brutish creatures.
In Tolkien-lore, orcs are twisted offshoots of elves.
I know, but tolkien pretty much killed traditional lore. for instance, elves, in NORMAL lore, were sprite-like creatures, esentially faeries.
Tolkien lore's better than normal lore.![]()
i can't believe people are using the word 'normal' in conjunction with the word 'lore'...
normal = traditional.
Normal = Boring
Wierd and completely wack = New Wave
