I recently started a cleric, which later will turn into a healer. My greatest problem so far have been ranking. While healing and protection is a great asset for groups later in their career, at lower ranks most parties seem to look for melee classes. With this in mind, I have an idea that would in a way fix this problem.
So. Why not add a small experience bonus upon completion of the random guild quests? They can be repeated as many times as you want, and it only seems logical that your guildmaster would aknowledge your skill and devotion, even if you only run errands, and reward you with some knowledge of the world.
This would greatly benefit healers, other pacificist characters, aswell as players who are online during odd hours, when there may not be other characters in the group range. At first I thought 5/10/15*level would be an apropriate ammount for the quests (easy/medium/hard), but I'm no longer so sure. Perhaps the ammount should decline with ranks, just like the experience from training spells.
Perhaps it would encourage newer player to explore the lands with the promise of a reward not only in gold, but also experience. Possibly a slower mean of ranking, but at least more interesting than hacking away at mobs for a few hours straight.
The only possible abuse I could see, sadly enough, is healers and gate. They would be able to complete quests at a fairly quick speed, at least quicker than the rest of the players. But again, hopefully it would not be faster than killing a mob in a three-man group.
