Checking bounty rewards?

Is there a way to check what reward a bounty has to offer?

Collect it.

Or just read help collect (I think...)

If you take the contract, you may type "Collect List" to see what is available. However much I wish you could examine bounties without putting down a 70 hour commitment, it seems this is the only way.

It used to be that any old Joe Shmo was allowed to contract , and then "collect list". However, Khaede got tired of healers checking out people's bounties, so he put a stop to it.

As far as I understand, you can check all available bounties on a person when they are before you, mercied, after you take a contract out. Not after taking a contract out, when they're actually at 1hp before you.

Me? I'm that shaking and excited that I've actually killed someone that I mispell all the keys all the time and type wrong commands to the point where I just 'collect ' without looking out of fear of them being able to move again and running off.

Woe betide the fool who accepts a contract and doesn't try to collect it.

Dude...

Talk Like a Pirate Day was so three weeks ago.

Hehe, been there!

Woe betide the fool who accepts a contract and doesn't try to collect it.

Problem with that is, what if you take a bounty, but once you see what it actually is, decide it isn't worth your time? You take a bounty because of the rewards, not only to learn the rewards after you've already accepted it.

The blind way you have to take a bounty now makes punishing someone for not going after it strange. I would enjoy it being that you may view bounties at a central point in some cities. Then, after browsing and perhaps finding one that you would like to collect or is tempting, you then pledge to do the deed.

Now then, taking a bounty in those conditions and doing nothing would be worthy of some wrath.

If you don't want to collect it, don't take out the contract.

If you don't want to collect it' date=' don't take out the contract.[/quote']

Its like chasing my tail, lol! I don't know if I want to collect it till I know what it is!

You're abusing the system. Either collect it or don't. Don't make your mind up after you find out the bounty isn't what you would like to make for getting the kill.

Well thats the point, really. I object to how the system works. Not that it really bothers me all that much, but I would like to see it a little more sensible.

I do agree with random_clown though.

It's sort of like:

Bob: "Hey, psst! I'll give you something REALLY REALLY COOL to go kill a group of ten of Despiser's chars! Alone!"

Dey: "Wow! What is it?!?!"

Bob: "I'm not telling you! Go kill Despiser's chars!"

Dey goes and effortlessly kills all of Despisers chars without even using sanctuary, as you'd expect.

Bob gives Dey an Elemental bracelet.

I think it makes sense that you should be able to see what you get before taking out a contract, because if I took a contract out on JonnyToughNuts with his 100-0 PK record and it turned out there was 10,000 gold on his head, would I really want to risk my neck for that?

I can see the flipside, Belegriel's argument. I don't think the system is flawed or wrong, it's just that I personally would rather see what you're going for pre-contract (or at least some indicator).

That's a problem with being able to bounty someone with a useless rare, give suggestions as to how to fix it and we'll gladly take them into account and fix it if necessary.

Besides, Syndicate are the ones that collect bounties. So, join Syndicate or collect. Or don't collect. Just don't take the contract and not do anything about it.

Maybe have the system work the way it is now from the start, but over time let Syndicate members create votes to set a minimum bounty for individual characters. That way, especially if it's a character that they themselves have a hard time killing, they know they're getting paid well for their time.

So that way, when someone goes to bounty Suunmar, if a Syndicate kills him they get rewarded with at least 200000 gold, or five level 50+ rares, or something, instead of an elemental bracelet and a mithril vest.

One suggestion would be to make some kind of relative system of minimal bounty. I don't think it would be easy to qualify how difficult a person is, but some adjustments could be made. Essentially making it so that the stronger the character, the higher a bounty must be.

*just posted and saw Evangelion touched on this. Many ways to mod the minimum, and could be useful.

You attempt to place 10,000 gold on the head of Martineius.

A cloaked figure laughs at your pitiful offer.

A cloaked figure says, "No fool would risk his neck for that!"

However, items are a difficult thing to measure for a bounty. Even people on the top10 could have just high lvl, relatively useless items on their head. Perhaps if instead you could exchange the items from the bounty for some kind of credit. After all, since Syndicate now includes traders, maybe you could either A) get credit towards a purchase or get a new currency type like bounty points that can be used to buy items. However, these would be items only available through bounty collection points.

That would spice up bounties and certainly encourage me to collect a bounty knowing that even if someone put a bad item on it, I could get a few points out of it towards that neat item I am going for.

step one: kill bountied person.

step two: take the items you want.

step three: sac everything else.

step four: place crappy bounty reward item in corpse.

step five: laugh your way all across Thera.

Bele, I think that's totally crap. Seriously. No offense or anything, but punishing because someone thinks that the velvet cloak on Suumar's head isn't worth it is very very lame. Seriously, the fix that would make the most people the happiest and avoid as much problems as possible is just to let people see what the bounty is before they contract. If you think about the word contract, that isn't what a binding agreement is.

"Go kill this guy and I'll give you something."

No, it's:

"Go kill this guy and I'll give you 100,000 gold, a magic multi-plated girdle, and a major globe."
