So when you look at a transformed were beast you only see the light they are wearing.
We had to keep the light on them, its not an oversight, its a sight provider.
Thus the reason for the post, why not allow transformed were beasts to see in the dark. It would have eliminated having to let them keep the light.
Obviously, we should not change this. As it remains a keystone strategy to use against the were beasts, just remember to ALWAYS confiscate his light after you kill him.
Slow down? I suppose you'd slow them down til they hit a temple for a finite source or Elemental/Everwild/Hamlet for an infinite one. Or their locker if they've stashed "better" non-rare ones there, like the glass star.
Guaranteed first purchase on all my characters if its not a class skill.
Trying to remember the high end weapon created for their extermination. Maybe divine right of kings is Silver, haven't looked at it in a long while. Pretty sure it will be a silver polearm. You know to work against rangers and druids. Now as for a silver whip, good luck.
Silver is a material vuln. You have to edge and throw it to hit the vuln. A silver weapon doing pierce damtype won't do vuln damage to a silver vuln target. Same with iron and mithril.
I thought someone once told me that material mattered with special skills but not in round to round damage.
I have always took this to mean that if I critical strike/impale/shield bash with a vuln material it is better than the same move with a non-vuln. Maybe I misunderstood what they were trying to elaborate.
To this day however, I will wield iron against elves, mithril against drow, ect.
Now here lies another question, Why does it burn a drow to touch the Mithril tide, but not increase the damage when you strike him with it? Because honestly, that Is senseless.

For balance reasons I assume.
[edit] OK Lloth.... you can be first at something.

why? ...it is really a waste of 20 rp.
every character in the game can have omnipotence on an easy to get item that can be replaced if you lose it.

Maybe a waste of RP for people who stockpile for edges but an amazing purchase for someone who doesn't know what an omnipotence item. Also, not everyone posts all their character interactions on the forum begging for RP points, I find it extremely annoying to have to prove I role play but I will do it to get the 20 points for identify :)
I think it is more a relic from DIKU than any real balance consideration by the staff. DIKU looks at damtype for vuln calculations in melee combat, not material. Since no damtype is associated with iron or silver vulns, you can't hit those vulns through a damtype (that I'm aware of).
Design-wise, it would be more prudent to keep vuln mechanic consistent (consistency is also good for players to learn your game) and adjust the weapons themselves just like other vulns.
The only reason for the existence of a weapon that hits a vuln is to hit that vuln, so you balance the damage output of the weapon to match the intended seriousness of vuln -- if you didn't want the vuln to be hit in normal melee, you'd just not make any such weapons rather than hardcoding this strangeness. That is where the balance portion comes in.
feeling a bit passive aggresive UC? butt hurting for some reason?>
Not on the least? I was just saying new people have no idea what omnipotence is or an item that would provide it or that they would even need it. I personally bypass the need to obtain it by jumping through the hoops to get the identify spell, if I wanted or needed the edges I'd keep jumping through the hoops. Pretty straight forward, no butt hurting at all :)

Respectfully disagree. It wouldn't take much to make it a full vuln. Drow and elves are in a good spot where they are at. So are werebeasts, for that matter. Having the middle ground prevents use of many good weapon choices and gives utility to edging for that material. A full vuln would require heavy compensation.
