Locked Rare Purge Time Limit
And the polls show, what? Let me tell you what they show, since you obviously misread them and now attempt to use it in a way to tell me that the people disagree
The poll says,
More people believe that there is something that needs to be done about the rare situation than people that believe the rare purge time limit doesn't need to be changed.
It's hard to fight someone who is never online.
Oh? Define never?
More people believe that there is something that needs to be done about the rare situation
Nah, actually it shows that some (very small amount) people want the system changed and the other ~35% just want the mob to hold the rare when they get to it, which basicly defeats the purpose of the item being rare at first place.
I was being sarcastic.
It is hard to fight someone who only plays 4 days out of the month.
Or an average of 10-20 minutes a day.
Or barely two hours a week.

11 people voted that something needs to change.
That is ~20% more than the people who voted No.
P.S Both groups voting that something needs to change is the same thing...if you get purged, it goes to the mob. If the rare limit gets increased, it goes to the mob. So, your argument is moot. Like most of your arguments ![]()
The thing is that people want to take the EQ the easy way - from the mob. Said character was online at the start of the month. You saw it, I saw it, the person who wants his EQ saw it. Did he do something? Obviously no, since said person still has his armor. He just came here and whined "OMG I WANT THIS AND THIS, but I can't kill the person who has them. Lets do something so I can get my rarez pls?"
You know what? The end of the month is coming, so I guess we will see him, who "never comes online", again soon enough, so everyone who wants a piece of his EQ can have a shot at him ![]()
You're wrong. The point is that people who don't play this game are keeping equipment out of the game from people who could use it. It isn't about people wanting EQ the easy way. They just want the EQ.
A) They can't get the opportunity to kill the person who has it because they haven't played for 3 weeks.
They can't get it from the mob, because the person who has it doesn't get purged.
C) They can't stand a chance vs the person who has the armor because they can't get the appropriate saves or ac or hit/dam to stand a chance.
D) Maybe they DID get a decent set of armor, but they died and got full looted by someone who brought out a shelved character with great armor and kill them and full looted/sac'd.
The system is broken, that is just a fact. If someone can play ~10 hours in ONE DAY and then not show up again for a month and keep their armor....the system isn't working.
It is not fair to say "You want his armor? Well you better hope you see him in the start of the month, cause you won't see him after that. Hope you've managed to get and keep your decent set of armor, cause it's gonna be one hell of a fight. Even if you live and hurt him...he can run away and log off and not play for 3 weeks. Sorry, too bad."
Please note, I am not saying the current system is perfect. Perfect things do not exist especially when they are supposed to look after a wide variety of variables.
I would agree that the current time limit is too low though. 1 hour/day should be the base limit and everything bellow that is just innactive.
But to suggest that people should lose their best pieces of armor every month when they have possibly waited MONTHS to get their hands on it is just brutal and selfish, because not everyone can muster 5+ hours a day for that trip to gear + that trip to deso.
I am not advocating that idea or trying to suggest it as a solid suggestion. It was just a thought. Brainstorming off of what Mya's suggestion was.
I've given what I thought would be the best idea(s) for improving the system.
I don't see why you arguying foxx instead of just give some constructive ideas you argue up.However the main problem is not the rare limit guys, the main problem is the little time you need to have logged on to keep your shinies and your cabal rank.I have an idea change the minimal cabal requirements for elders trusted to 45 hours a month.Minimum requirement to keep your rares 30 hours a month.

Constructive ideas about what? I think the current system is fine.

This sounds good. The tendency should be that rares require more time to keep than your cabal rank though. And 45 hours a month is quite an amount for a casual player.
So... an average of 1.5 hours a day.
Yeah. That means I would never have a cabal elder. (EDIT: And, frankly, means I would never bother with joining a cabal - even if I'm not really aiming for elder, I don't like intentionally choosing paths that have such defined limits of progression... it's the same reason I don't play Moderates)
An hour every day doing the same thing, beyond work, is a lot of time spent.
Are you playing for joy or just to keep your things? This are two different things because If I play because I like the game I will find a time for it just like I find time for my amily. If you wish to play a ten minute game then play chess or darts.Give those who are more active a chance to suit themselves and a reason to stay IG.To be honest a guy that doesn't have a time for the game should just give up and give a chance to those that have time for it.Why should I give elder or why should someone who cannot put away hour a day deserves a godly suit, when there are people roaming like mad 3 hours a day for a single piece of rare? This is a bit of selfish you know? When I couldn't play I exited the cabal and dropped, sacced everything simply because there are active players that deserve space in the cabal or this rares.
A good game of chess lasts much longer than ten minutes.
If you want to keep the best parts of the game out of the hands of those who cannot dedicate 50 hours a month to it, fine. Just understand that you will lose even more of the few players that still exist by doing so (a thing you dismiss far too cavalierly). I already don't play much because I have work, a social life, and numerous other interests that take up a good deal of my time. FL simply is not my only hobby... and the more that fact interferes with things I'm capable of doing in FL, the less I care to invest time into it in the first place.
Frankly, I think the people who are spending three hours a day looking for individual rares as if they matter that much are the people who need to be slapped with a dose of reality. If you want shinies, play WoW - they actually have graphics there that will give you sparkles to look at.
Besides, if everyone's in such crappy EQ, then what's the problem? You're on a level field.
Why should I give elder or why should someone who cannot put away hour a day deserves a godly suit' date=' when there are people roaming like mad 3 hours a day for a single piece of rare? This is a bit of selfish you know?[/quote']
The way I see it, it is selfish to ask someone to drop his suit and give up his elder spot just because he can't put in the same amount of time as you. This is a game based on skill, not on activity.
If you are skilled enough you will find a way to kill that person, no matter how "innactive" he is, just as he has killed the person who had that suit before him.

That is actually where the whole problem comes from.
And after I am skilled how to kill someone who never logs on?Maybe go to his home and force him to?I don't want decked stuff but for ****s sake there aren't even double plated leggings and a warped skull. And how I am going to loose a player that doesn't play the game but just logs on to keep his rares?Think about it do not post anything just because you cannot play.I don't care that you cannot play, I can.Because I am on a vacation and I wish to spend some time in the game and enjoy it.I see veterans logging on and logging off simply because they lack anything to do.If the administrators lower the hours that your hero is rare purged it would be alright for everyone.I don't care that we will loose somebody as a player that doesn't log on.What can he do for the mud when he is logged off? What good can he bring?Nothing. He will just log on spam eq four times to see his shinies then log off. That is retarted.
And you seriously think that the problem here is that there are too many players who don't play enough? That we have a dozen or so people decked out in the usual level 40 rares who just never play, and so those rares aren't in circulation?
And again... my real objection was the idea of a 1.5 hour a day minimum play-time to keep rares and/or cabal ranks. That's a LOT of time to people with jobs and social lives and non-FL interests. I have no problem with a minimum, but that's way too high.
Your estimates of the hours needed to keep rares is way off, it is far more already now than playing 5 minutes a day. Not that that would be productive for anyone anyway.
Hours needed for staying in a cabal
So if someone really never logs on or only logs on for 10 hours a month, you can be sure their rares will be lost the next month.
I don't care.I have job and social life and a friends, girlfriend and anything. And I can play.Of course that I went off many times because of several problems but then I got rare purged and cabal expelled. We need active players not innactive.Because active players are the future and innactive ones give nothing to this mud.Active players need some sort of stimulation but when they log in and they don't find a **** why they should play at all?Why should they play a game that don't tolerate them but tolerate those that do NOTHING.
Why should they play a game that don't tolerate them but tolerate those that do NOTHING.
You realise you are speaking about a tattood elder with a custom title?
It's just not serious to say this.
Just because you want the rares RIGHT NOW, doesn't mean you deserve them. Patience is a big virtue in this game and so is persistance. At the moment you just look like a little kid who saw a candy in the shop and is now crying to his mom that he wants it.
