Locked Rare Purge Time Limit

If you must ask, I was on Grum plenty in the past week.. just not when you're around I suppose.

P.S.-Thank you for having such a hard-on for Grum

Hehe granted my playtime has been a little less in the past week, so I'll take your word for it I did see him today which made me smile.

And you're welcome Enjoyed Grum very much and only hope to see him around more. As much as I want that alt of yours to rise up and own a certain person's face off....I enjoy my RP with Grum moreso

Hobbes La Flair, Captain of the Imperial Blood Guard is jealous!

I want to meet Hobbes :-( I read in that RP log of you and Heiku and in that part that went something like

Grum says, "I need to go find Hobbes."

Grum yells, "HOBBES!!"

Grum flies north.

I almost fell out of my chair, the visual that played out in my mind was hilarious.

He was stuck in winter

EACH single elder at the moment is not completely active. From Grum' date=' through Oppressant, Thulgan, Sartach, Sepahoona to Istendil. I am certain each of the players who plays one of those characters has an alt and spends more time on it than on his elder.[/quote']

Hate to butt in here, or anything.. but yeah, I can't spend that much time on Istendil until I get my internet fixed (which may unfortunately take awhile). It's okay though.. I spend all my time on my -other- Elder. I have one other alt, though, which maybe has 3 or 4 hours on him. Heheh.

It could have something to do with what I think Jibber was saying earlier, not sure if it was in this thread though. Elders log on and have nothing to do necessarily. I'd be RPing for the most part, trying to get a plot going but I'm also heading back to school. That and full time work cuts hours down a little.

I know jibber and that is exactly why I mentioned Istendil, because with a system like the one with MMA suggest (based on weekly time limits), Istendil will be one of the first who will lose his suit and cabal rank (which I am fairly against).

PS. Sorry about forgetting to mention yout -new- elder

I logged onto Istendil very regularly up until the middle of this month.. and I did let everyone know (including IMMs on prayer forum) what was going on. If this SYSTEM that MMA is suggesting DOES ever happen, then I'd not lose my cabal rank or suit -- because the IMMs wouldn't allow it, I'd hope.

Regardless, if I don't get my connection fixed soon.. I'm afraid Istendil will have to die off. Not like I want to, but more I have to since I can't PK worth a crap with 3-4 second lag between commands.

Hell I tried to roll a char the other day and was at roll 437 after 20 minutes of rolling. How BAD is that.

No, he wouldn't. Keep your ignorance away from my marvelous design.

As I already stated people who were going to be away could speak up, as jibber did. IMMs set the nopurge flag to his characters and it's taken care of.

Am I ignorant? You haven't had cases where you lost internet for more than a couple of days? What if someone can't actually inform the immortals about such? What if the immortals actually don't notice his thread in the prayer forum (it's not going to be the first, nor the last time )? There are so many possibilities that can go wrong. We have monthly limits for a reason.

Whether it is going to be 30 hours/month or 5 hours/week, what is the difference really?

The difference is you can play 30 hours in the first 2 days of the month and then never play again for 28 days.

I know it's rocket science, but try and keep up.

The difference is you can play 30 hours in the first 2 days of the month and then never play again for 28 days.

Now that's quite an exageration. If you can put such hours in one day, then you should try to realise that you are not the norm, but a single exception.

Also, what is going to happen if the weekly time limit is accepted and then those same characters still manage to keep their rares? I mean, what is the difference if I play two days of the month 15 hours each of 4 days 5 hours each? I bet you still won't be happy? Then what are we going to have? Daily time limits?

Alright that is enough. I've said my opinion. You want weekly time limits and you have your reasons, I don't and I have my reasons. We've had this game running for 10 years now with the same rare item limits with even bigger playerbase. Now we have much smaller playerbase and the same rare item limits and there people who are not happy. I can understand there will always be whiners. But it's not just that. Now we have cabal outfits (who come in CHEAP and are not bad at all) and we have merchants too. If that is not enough for you, then I don't know what will be. You've been back for what 3 months now and you are giving out opinions for characters (than have been existing for more than a year) saying they don't deserve this and don't deserve that. I will say this, and hopefully you will not take it as being rude, but WHO ARE YOU TO GIVE SUCH JUDGEMENTS?

I've said what I think and now I am done with this thread.

I am up with Zrothum here.Character is just like pet you know. Why you should have an elder after you don't have the time to dedicate for it?Why you should have a pet after you don't have the time to care for it.It is the same things. After you don't have the time or you don't like your character anymore why you should bother us with it?Just leave the cabal and give a slot to someone who is active.Tell me honestly what is the point of holding all this rares after you are not active?Do you feel your ego rise up when you log in and spam "eq" four times then log off? What is the thrill of holding such rares when there is not a chance of losing them?Think about it.

The difference is you can play 30 hours in the first 2 days of the month and then never play again for 28 days.

Do you really think that there are enough people doing this that it contributes to a large-scale rare shortage?

It just sounds very, very far-fetched to me.

EDIT: I mean, sometimes you guys are complaining about super-decked people who don't play... and then you're complaining about double plated leggings never being in. Which is it? These cannot be treated as the same problem - people in double plated leggings simply do not qualify as super-decked. Do you really think that there are tons of players who just have so many alts that are in rare suits that they never play that all the rares aren't in circulation?

He's talking about the uber rares that Grum is hoarding. Really it's only two things he wants or can actually use to make his character better

Go kill Sartach, he's got the rest of my suit after that dumb ninja pushed me into the Great Black Dragon and gave him all of my suit

You guys have missed my points and correlation.

My double plated leggings comment - If people can't even get THESE, they cannot compete with the people in the BEST column if and when they show up.

People not deserving - I never said they didn't deserve it. I said that they DID earn it and deserve it. I have tons of respect for each character this thread has been directed at...they are well played and powerful. They just don't play.

Enough ppl doing it? - Yes, I can think of 4-5 people with great armor. When you think of uniques that only have < 3 copies...that is more than enough.

I have never once said I am the authority here and that my word is gold. I have offered my opinion, suggestion, and analysis of things I have witnessed over the past 3 months and probably 800 hours logged.

Again, -I- do not have an issue with rares. My characters always get decked. Are there one or two pieces I'd like that I can't get? Sure, but those two pieces won't make my character overcome his vulnerabilities anyway. This thread has never been about me wanting rares. It has been about the countless number of people who have either continually complained about the rare situation or have left the game because they stood zero chance at 50 against their cabal enemies because of it.

If the weekly limit is imposed then I can almost guarantee you will not see those people keeping the same rares for 3 months again. And even IF they did...what we would have accomplished is bringing back high profile characters to help influence the world and flesh out the events that are going on even more.

I have NEVER tried to say that my playtimes are the basis for my arguments and for my ideas on hour restrictions. I have only ever mentioned my playtimes to provide two points:

A) I play enough hours to witness a lot more than most people here.

The current system would allow someone to play for ONE day and not play again, keeping all their rares.

I know the exact rare purge limit now and the average player here could do it in about a week. Or 7-8 days out of the month.

I'm trying to be done with this thread myself...but refuse to let my points be misunderstood or simply lied about.

weekly limit...

So if I go on vacation, get sick, travel for work, or lose internet for any number of reasons...I lose my rares after a week.

This is a game, not a job.

Have you bothered to read all my posts?

You would not lose your rares.

I have agreed with almost everything mmajunkie has said throughout this post. The facts remain that people have been keeping the best equipment away from others, for lack of a better reason but selfishness, for months and in some cases even a year. There are multiple examples of people who play minimal amount of time required to keep their decked suits, then play an alt for tons of time. Why? I don't really know why people would do that at all, really. There are plenty of cases where those decked players are on when others are on that want their gear, but those people do not want to end up naked outright dying to those decked players.

For instance, A decked ogre warrior vs A "decently" equiped ogre warrior. The decked one is not dying, simple as that.

Then someone might say, well if you have that class's weakness then you could kill that decked player. Sometimes maybe, but why would an invoker want hit/dam equipment? Or a ranger want spell-lvl+ equipment?

The problem remains. Certain stuff has been out of rotation for a LONG time due to "hidden/inactive" hoarding. Some examples: Rokujan, Ancient Sceptre, Unholy Shadow of Zelphane, That bone dragon tooth, eyes of hakaesher, and so on. pretty much all the gear that everyone who plays and has hit the cap on the "better" equipment is looking for and cannot get from a pker or a mob.

I don't want the equipment on some weak mob, I want the pker to get on so I can figure out how to kill/take that gear. I play PLENTY of time and see these pkers I am thinking of...never. So, how am I supposed to kill what is not there, ever. And I have tried every timezone, so it is very unlucky that I just haven't caught them in their 5 minute intervals? Or what?

I do not think there should be a weekly limit, but maybe a new different indicator of your activity. Like a PK or 2 or 5 per month to go with the hours? After all this mud is PK/RP. And if they are some elder of their cabal, maybe at least a cabal pk or 2? There are plenty of active caballed players who are MORE than willing to fight/die to try to get your uber rares. I am an example of 1.
