Vs. Blademaster

One word... Spellbane. It owns my arse and it lasts for quite a lot of time. What is a communer who relies on a lot of his spells to do?

This is how my battles go:

first spell countered

immediately spellbaned

find all my spells failing, so flee and wait it out

come back only to find the same thing happening

Run them out of mana. More advanced I would have to know your exact class.

I personally think the IMMs need to look into Blademasters and start the tonedowns. Such as using deathweaver with a two-handed weapon - Too defensive, and will OWN several different mage types.

I havn't tangled with blm's at 50 much, but I would think thier weakness would be hybrid classes, unable to defend aginst both methods of attack at once.

This is how my battles go:

first spell countered

Open with an area spell, he can't snakespeed those.

immediately spellbaned

find all my spells failing, so flee and wait it out

If this is what I think it is, he made a few selections to make himself your races bane. Not much you can do about this but be happy that chars of other races are going to have an easier time fighting him than you will.

The only usefulness of a two handed weapon against a mage would be to spellkill a casters spell, which will stop only one spell of the blademasters choice, and will counter all spells targetting him to initiate combat. Very very easy to get around. Don't use the spell he's spellkilling more than once, initiate combat with an area spell.

Now I can't imagine why he would want to throw deathweaver down on top of this while fighting a mage. No true mage I know can lag, which is the main purpose of deathweaver. I suppose if a charmie were thrown into the mix, this wouldn't be a bad idea, the only class this would screw over some would be necros, as any others would be able to throw their charmie away and lose very little of their power.

Necromancers.

Right, necros get screwed alot here, but theres plenty of cases of rock paper scissors around this place.

Rock...paper...scissors in the eye!

I am pretty sure OPENLY giving away all the secrets of a class is forbidden...

Heh, believe me, that is far from all the secrets of a blademaster.

So we should just give away one or two of the secrets of a mastered divine intervention? Because its not all of them?

A secret is a secret, the forums should not be a means to spread them.

I am pretty sure OPENLY giving away all the secrets of a class is forbidden...

These pointers were given by immortals some time ago while there were complaints about blademasters, I'm not posting anything new.

Then let people research to find them instead of spoon feeding them information about a class they dont know.

Eh, it was an older forum, no one was going to find it so easy.

So because it takes some intelligence and work to find out the secret of a class.. wouldnt that kind of mean that it is intended to be difficult to find?

Giving general hints about how to fight with/aginst a complex class is different than things like what a mastered DI does. You can suggest that they master DI, but not why. Same thing. Not everyone has 40+ hours a week to pinn all the classes/races and figure out what everyone of them can/can't do. Nuff said.

Do this to completely avoid and nullify thats not a general hint.

I gaurantee if you filled that sentance in with holy hands, divine intervention, malform weapon, or a qrace/qclass's ability you would get flamed.

Why all of a sudden just cause blademasters are complex do they need to be drawn out and written down with every fact and facet?

I think, for instance, the details of what the critical strikes do would be considered secrets. Some very obvious facts derived from help files, which have been posted previously on an older forum are not so much. Is this really such a big issue?

I've said my peace. Giving away the secrets to any class/race/cabal/spell/skill in my opinion is very VERY BAD policy.

I get tired of the hinting at things, the spoon feeding and general consensus of in game knowledge being spread on OOC forums. The rampant spread of ooc knowledge was one of the main reasons I left last time.

From Forum Rules,

"5. With the exception of quest race, quest class, cabal skills, mana charge, malform weapon, Tattoos (any) and selectable skills, all skills may be speculated about. This means if you know, please don't spoil other's fun. "

Legitimate within reason. The forums are meant to be a teaching tool.

Within reason means you can give general effects and strategies and tips. Going super in depth is something else. So far, what I have seen is legitimate; it's the same as saying 'use a nodisarm weapon to avoid being disarmed'. Blademasters aren't a qclass.
