Vs. Blademaster

I've said my peace. Giving away the secrets to any class/race/cabal/spell/skill in my opinion is very VERY BAD policy.

I get tired of the hinting at things, the spoon feeding and general consensus of in game knowledge being spread on OOC forums. The rampant spread of ooc knowledge was one of the main reasons I left last time.

As Raargant said, this isn't against the rules. From what I see here, no flame intended, is that you now play a blademaster, and you don't want people to know how to 'beat' them, so you can basically continue to have your fun while completely obliterating people. Believe it or not, most of what I've learned I was given a heads up on the forum, and I delved into it. The forum helped me a LOT, and as a newbie way back when, I could probably say I would have left had I not had help on the forum.

This is Newbie Help, as in the topic of the forum section. Deathweaver, 'disarm', hell, BLADESTORM, BALANCE, FOOTWORK, it's all in helpfiles you can get off of the server. There's no 'secrets' being given away here. It's all very adequate in the discussion of trying to help someone against something they can't fight very well. I'm sure when you were a newbie you had the same questions, and people gave you the answers you looked for, and I'm sure it was when you could talk about qrace skills, et cetera.

This isn't the topic under discussion. Get it back on topic, please, people, or I'll be locking it.

Then let people research to find them instead of spoon feeding them information about a class they dont know.

dude, chill beast mode, if its out of line, an admin will lock/edit thread. So live happy.

DOH! Not the shout out forum! K.

also, Blademasters are a very in depth class, and really the only way to get an idea how to fight one, is to play one. By then you will realize blademaster is really chuck norris who transfered his kicking into stabbing, and will understand your futility.

Thanks for all that helped. Still the same conclusion after some different strategies. I see only one way out... outmelee them.

And this was meant to be a helpful discussion. Hope it can continue without being locked.

"If this is what I think it is, he made a few selections to make himself your races bane. Not much you can do about this but be happy that chars of other races are going to have an easier time fighting him than you will."

Grosek, you hit the nail on the head. Maybe my race/class combo just isnt build to fight blademasters. Still, I would like to ponder up some strategies to not be completely hopeless against them no matter what.

I wouldn't say that your race/class combo isn't built to fight all blademasters, just not this one in particular. Its sounds as though he may have used a few of his selectables to make himself that powerful against just your race.

I have played two qclasses and trust me blademasters own them both.If you make blademaster qclass it would be fair.

Okay what if I am knight mage and there is a nexus blademaster that have slected anatomies at my race?I guess that I must drop the keyboard and watch him own me everytime. What chance I have agains him?

There's no need to make blademasters a qclass. They're quite defeatable by anything, just they've got a huge edge against whatever they take expertises/mastery in. What they don't take expertises/mastery in, they actually are a bit weak against, as there's not too much critical strikes can do below 100% for an anatomy.

As for revealing information... saying the exact affects of each critical strike I'd consider revealing too much. Saying how to get around counters, snakespeed, and the like is fine.

If you are playing a blm and don't master your anats...you're doing something wrong...

I guess there are just benefits to playing a less common race.

Assuming equip/cabal skils/player skill/terrain/preperation/charmie selection/use of allies/chasing skills/tick catching for sleep skill/etc. are all even, than yes if a blm has mastery in your anats he is likely going to win most of the time. Has that even of a match up ever occured?

Yes. It has happened to me and its not always bad. In cabal warfare I'll take the standard first and foremost. That way I have cabal crap to sling and the blm doesn't. The blm will need to take his standard back, which means he/she is not aiming at you. If you're a mage, you got sanctuary, use it(hint hint). As Trienklor it was not easy to fight Zolis when I had to go through defenses and a certain cabal skill that hurts an ogre, aswell as pets, quite a bit. I took out the cabal skills and he had to go for the standard, cabal skills gave me the edge in the battle.

If neither person are in a cabal, then I suggest you play you're cards right. Every class has more than one way to open a fight. If you are fighting a blm with a vuln, feral or dwarf for example, expect the fire or water spells to be predicted and don't go for them. Cast one to see if it is, if so, change tactics.

Oh, you misunderstood. I meant that all the really powerful critical strikes require you to have OVER 100 in those anatomies. The ones at or below 100 as a requirement, while still quite useful, are not nearly as strong.

Yup. Pruriant against that annoying slith bmaster when bmasters first came out. He chose my anatomy and started doing all these really crazy stuff on me. Than I got smart and started kicking him around. I think in the end it was like 5 wons 1 loss vs him.

Welp, I don't know blademasters well enough to say anything like they're overpowered or unbeatable. I am sure they are beatable. I've seen them fall.

What I do know, with my race/class, I couldn't think of any viable options to fight back with (this was against three different blademasters - seems they like my race). Was thinking maybe someone out there had some new things to bring to the table that maybe I could consider in future battles?

It was a cleric vs blademasters so you can zone in more specifically on the battlefield. Against all of them, critical strike landed pretty instantly (maybe it was just bad luck, but im guessing they had my anat mastered). I would flee and wait it off. Re-enter only to find the same thing happening (went through a full tank of flee/cure). So that left me with trying to try battling while under critical strike. And let me just say, that was pretty much like fighting them with just melee. I'll keep trying tho. I'm not willing to throw down the towel till I've exhausted everything. Maybe there is just something I'm not thinking of.

One thing to remember: If you're in a fight, and something is done that massively shifts the balance their way... don't stay in the fight. A cleric is NOT going to outmelee a blademaster unless that cleric is decked in hit/dam eq.

I may not be totally right, but I think if you are a cleric you want steel wall up vs a BLM for starters, then you prolly would benefit from a few dispel magics! <--- That is if I remember correctly something from a helpfile I read. Minister helps if you are evil, if you are good...I dunno what else you should do. Maybe dispel magic then RoT him to death I guess. Have a shield and a nodisarm weapon and you should hang in there. Remember they cannot use flails whips maces or staffs, so your choice of weapon is always good, unless they use one stance in particular.
