Herbology - Hot Stuff
Academy Texts · by Herald Aikkao
My name is Aikkao. I have studied the use of herbs for centuries, incorperating what I know into my methods of healing both the body and soul. Previous installments of this line of books by Scholar Razzon Lavverek have proven most useful to me in the past and I highly recommend reading those first if you have not done so already. In this eddition we will be looking at previously unexplored herbs and at the end, a preview of the next book to come in the series.
If you have ever been to the volcano you will know that some pretty weird things live there. Werewolves, elementals, abominations of all kind are quite frequent sights in this hot place. Well among them is a curious evolution, the needler plant. This plant does not only thrive in hot dry environments, it has developed a carnivorous behavior pattern. You will no doubt have to best it in combat to harvest its stalk for your collection. However once smoked, the world becomes much more clear as you can see every little magical flow around you and others.
Of course if you venture further into the volcano, things get even weirder. It is hard to believe that anything could make its home here but never the less, a paladin has taken up residence. Not only that, he actually made some of the volcano habitable! Close to him you will find a glowing fungus that is leeching off the last of the moisture that his spring gives off. This anomalous fungus is very important to healing the body. The medicinal properties go immediately to your feet causing relaxation of the muscles and numbing of foot pain.
Let us move away from that most inhospitable of places and to a much more relaxing location, the beaches near Marak! Overlooking the dead sea, these beaches of ocean pounded rock and glass are a marvel of nature. As you journey inland towards Marak and up the cliffs, you will find a box. Inside this box is a sandy herb. The gritty texture and disgusting color usually make most people think twice about smoking this one. Not to mention the smell is terrible and when you smoke it your skin starts to feel as hard as a rock. All in all this one is not a pleasant addition to a beach going experience.
Well all this discussion of beaches reminds me that we need to close up soon. So for your hint about the next book in the series, we explore another beech at the Halfling Hamlet. Smaller than the one on the dead sea, this one sports much more fun and recreation. In addition, to keep things interesting, Hops tends to wash up on shore there from time to time. Most people know hops as an ingredient dwarven beers and ales. However to the non-brewer people, this can be smoked recreationally to prank your friends. One puff and you fade out of sight allowing you to:
Crash that party you were not invited to
Make someone believe they are haunted Get peoples real opinions of you Throw random things at friends Throw random things at enemies and give endless wedgies to ogres!
Well that about wraps up this eddition of Herbology - Hot Stuff. Keep your eyes open for the next book in the series, Herbology - Party time!
