Malynne, the Dark Priestess
Faces In Time · by Academician Daemian Sathyr
Some individuals, through the course of their existence, push the limits of mortality, and traverse planes of knowledge and experience as trailblazers - walking where none have walked so that others might follow their tracks. Malynne, styled the Dark Priestess of the Rift, was one such person during her mortal years.
She was born Malynne Dolenox, child of Kiyana and
Jaharim Dolenex. From her first moments, strife was her handmaiden, for she was birthed as a result of her mother's death at the hand of her son Aciati. The attack put Lady Kiyana in to labor, which produced two daughters. Lord Athraeil , and the Ladies Seiluna and Isabuea took the children before any harm could come to them, and with the help of Lord Luqin, placed the children in to a stasis where they might be supported until able to live on their own. It was during this time that it was decided Lady Kiyana's memories be placed within these children - Kiyana's experience and knowledge were priceless. Sadly, Malynne's sister could not survive in her weakened state, and was lost. As such, all of Kiyana's memories were transferred to Malynne. This made Malynne rather valuable, to the light and dark both. The Dark Order (the name might imply it's nature) took a good deal of interest in Malynne, for with the memories taken from her mother was the consciousness of some sort of Ancient being. Her memories were stolen from her by this order for their dark purpose, but Malynne was left mostly unharmed.
Through life she grew in many ways. She had joined
the halls of Savant, and rose to the rank of Sybil. When Virigoth, Lord of Death took hold over her halls she staged a resistance that consisted almost entirely of her own actions. Her punishment was exile. The culmination of her efforts was the collapse of the Savant tower, the banishment of Virigoth, and the reinstatement of Malynne as an elder.
It is a rule of the universe that all that is begun must reach an end. And so it was with Malynne, at least in part. Through some mistake in her action, she was outcast from her healer profession and given to the care of Virigoth.. Handicapped as she was, she still continued to fight. Her final end came at the hands of Cariousus of the Hundred, a vampire who had taken an interest in Malynne's sister (though not by blood) Sereniel Quis. Sacrificing her own well being for that of her kin, Malynne fell at the vampire's hand and begun her descent in to the abyss. She was denied an eternal slumber, however, as Ghorn the Storm of Retribution stole her from Virigoth's embrace. But she was not left in peace within the light - she was risen to the ranks of the gods themselves. We are unsure of the exact purpose for her ascension. Alas, who truly knows what the Powers do and for what reasons? What is known, is that Malynne is no longer the bastion of light she once was. Most recently, she has slain Lord Luqin, god of Compassion and once a good friend and ally. Her story has not yet ended, but may this tome serve as a prelude.
