Aabahran

The Soulreaver of the Isle

Creature Compendium · by Academician Jisil Gwycae

The Soulreaver. Many try and decipher what exactly it's name means. Some say that it is just what it is named; A reaver of souls. To reave is to seize. So the Soulreaver literally means to seize souls. What kind of creature could possibly reave souls? Many argue that the demons of Dischord can, and that few of the undead creatures who walk this realm can. However, none of these creatures have been given the name 'Soulreaver', the honored name that strikes fear into the hearts who hear it. Half of Aabahran haven't even laid eyes on it; those who haven't should be grateful, and those who have will endure nightmares until the day they die, that is, if they live.

No one knows it's origin, only that it mysteriously appeared near the most evil of places. Where evil resides, let more evil help in it's cause. For those who have not seen it, it is evident you don't know how much fear it can instill. The moment before it attacks, it just stares at you, looking into your eyes for that precious soul you hold dear to. It's actually more human than it is 'creature', except for it's cold white eyes, and it's flesh eating incisors which drip with slime and shadowed goo.

For those of you who seek it, do not let fear overtake you. Once you do, it will strike, and tear into your very soul, leaving you paralyzed with a loss of hope and meaning. You will cease to exist for a short while; It is not a good feeling to endure.
